brand AR-15

The eternal question. I've been digging, from what I've seen S&W/Bushmaster/Stag all fall into the mid-range guns. Most comments are that any one of them will do. Each has it's subtleties, but basic rig quality is there.

Stag isn't "tops."

It may not matter much to someone who is only going to put 50-100 rounds per year through a rifle, but like others said, stag is mid tier at best as are all others listed by the OP other then Sabre.

I am not an AR snob but my chit house Bushmaster has gone through about 10 or 15 times that, Puma, and it does alright. Only time it ever gagged was on my home brewed ammo.

Not trying to slag anyone, just my two cents. Your mileage may vary I suppose.

In that price range you could also check out CMMG at Questar, or Stag as mention at AEI.

You mentioned Sabre, I would place Sabre way above Bushmaster and S&W.
Sabre should never be placed in the same sentence to a Bushmaster ever

Koolaid aside, you get what you pay for applies here. But for our Canadian neutered climate, it would be hard for you to run any of them into junk metal even with a Norinco.

I put 5000 through my Stag in the last 13 months. Not a single stoppage (other than empty mags:D) or failure.

I guess I should have paid double for a LMT or triple for a KAC.

The "tier" system makes no sense. Stag is "tops" sure theres brands out there slightly better. But for the money, the rifle (stag) is a beauty. Anything more, you're splitting hairs in terms of function and reliability...

Trying not to be snobby here.
If it is not a factory rifle you are just talking about parts guns.
With parts guns you mileage will vary, and the warranty sucks.

My round count is 0, so you got me with the 5k though.

I'd buy a Stag, mostly because I wouldn't spend what a Sabre costs (sorry, it's a toy) and if I'm going to spend more than a few hundred on an AR I want one that comes with expert warranty service and that has been checked out by experts before I set eyes on it. It happens that the importer is a supporter of this site, that's important too. I've been here for a few years now, and not once have I heard of a problem with a Stag rifle, there was one problem with a magazine, and Armseast bent over backward to accomodate the guy. I know Wolverine would do the same with their products, but as I said the buy in on Sabre is outside my toy budget.

Disclaimer: I do not own a Stag, Bushmaster, Smith M&P Rifle or Sabre - I'm too cheap, but when Armseast (Walt) said that the Norc M4 was solid and serviceable I bought one (from a local dealer) and boy was Walt right, if he'd said they were crap (as many internet experts claimed they would be) I'd have held off. Sometimes you're buying more than a rifle.

Hello foxracing29

Discussion about what's the best AR of the bunch that you listed can go on till eternity.
Question is what can you afford.....
They are all very good......what would you like to spend and are you leaving room in your budget for accessories.......a sabre and then eotech or aimpoint...quad rail...ctr stock...........oh boy......$5000 later.

ok guys, today i went to my local dealer and i "played" with 4 different AR-15.
the first one:- CMMG. nice but looks a little bit loose.1475$

second one:-Smith&Wesson M&P15.very nice,looks well builded than the CMMG.1550$

third one:-Colt 6940. OMG!!! the one that i want,but to much expensive.2900$

and the last one ,a customized one international tactical lower, rock river arms upper with a bull stainless Wilson barrel .very heavy weight 1550$

so for now, i dont want to spend more than 2000$ with the optic(that will be an EOTech 511) so the winner will be the M&P15 i think.
