Hey guys,
So I got this new Benelli M4 and took it to the range only to have it jam almost constantly with target loads, yes I realize it's a combat shotgun so it's made for buckshot but that wasn't in stock. Is there any birdshot or target load that runs in this gun? Even better if it comes in bulk! Once again I realize it's not a trap gun so please no hate comments but any advice is very appreciated.

Yes, there are heavy dram birds hot loads you can purchase by the case at just a bit more cost then target loads.

Run a few hundred rounds of heavier ammo through the gun then try again with the lighter ammo, it worked for mine.

Challenger Handicap loads will cycle your M4 no problem. They seem to be available at most Canadian Tire stores.

I would run it on the wet side with some good oil (no Frog Lube crap) and try feeding it some 1 1/8oz handicap target loads. My Versamax was like that when it was new, she now runs like a swiss watch in IPSC shotgun. Hope this helps.

After a few hundreds rounds of hot stuff, your M4 will cycle anything, mine does now take one ounce trap shot reliably drench in Froglube... JP.

I'm using g96 is frog lube no good I just bough an entire bottle...

I didn't think it needed a break in cuz it's inertia driven?

It's actually not inertia driven like most of Benellis other shotguns. The M4 is gas driven and it's operating system is meant for heavier loads. If you want to shoot light target loads there are much better options but you're into her for 2k so I imagine you really want this dog to hunt. Bust at least a few boxes of heavy magnums through it and then try some good quality field loads. Wally World bulk shells with the aluminum rims are some of the least reliable ammo in any gun, shoot better quality stuff with a brass rim like Challenger.

Nonetheless, you bought a purebred tactical shotgun, it may or may not work with all the ammo you want it to. No worries though, there are lots of guys like you itching to buy it off you when you throw it up on the EE come summer. Tactical "shotties" are must have accessories for all the kids these days

Interesting, thanks Patrick. I ran it today and it ran magnificent. I doubt I will ever part with it.

Why you said no frog lub crap? this is one of the best product I've personnaly tested and used in a long time. Do a little research before posting such comments. Frog lube has been tested vs more than 30 other quality products and its the best rust protectant in long therm test and the best lubricating oil tested, it smells like mint, is not toxic and don't arm plastic and camo...I fail to understand what you could possibly want more ...

And about the browning fix... I've owned my share of browning, browning auto 5, browning maxus, winchester sx3... all of them at one time or another failed to cycle light load and even some heavy load. All semi auto can jam, the guy is asking for help and you suggest him to tarde his 2000$ shotgun for something else...

BTW just remove factory oil, apply a light quality oil to all part than wipe until you dont see oil residue, than run about 75-100 rounds of heavy load, then clean everything and reapply oil lightly then wipe... should do the trick to cycle the minimum recommended loads

^ Do a bit of googling and you'll see why so many hate frog lube. Myself included, I used it for a time. I followed the instructions, it sucked I binned it.

I did my own rust test and it did come in second place however. Works great as a rust preventative.
