Hello everyone!

I'm brand new to the shooting scene. My PAL and RPAL exams are the weekend after next in Toronto.

I've been doing a bunch of research on calibers and rifles, but i have one question i hope someone can answer for me.

Where can I go to shoot non-restricted rifles near toronto, without having to be a member?
I've found silverdale gun club, for $20 a day, weekends only way out near niagara.
Is there anywhere I can go, on say a weekday night?

Hope to hear back!

Thanks,
Duncan

Hey Duncan,

Welcome to the sport! I'm not currently a member of any ranges (I have a better bush spot!) but from my gathering most ranges are open to non members mostly on weekends unless you're accompanying a member.

Probably not the best answer but pretty much no matter what you're facing at least a 45-1.5 hour drive.. and if you want crown land... beyond 1.5 depending on your need for speed!

Welcome to the sport. Only other public range is Target Sports up in Gormley. I might head up there during the Christmas break to shoot some NR's. I'm still looking for a range to join myself. :p

Good luck finding a range to join...i've called everywhere within a 2 hour drive of whitby and toronto...no one is accepting people...oshawa isnt taking anyone until next year..its been a pain....so I just go to some crown land outside of peterborough...about an hour or so drive and shoot there...aslong as no one is around...no houses close by...and i have a good backstop it's fair game in my books.

Most all clubs in Durham Region have a backlog of membership applications and are no longer accepting any new applications. However this is the time of the year that clubs are renewing memberships into the new year....some people won't renew or move on so there is often a new intake of members shortly into the new year. Keep trying!

I have also heard that Peterborough clubs are still accepting membership and the one club doesn't have a calibre restriction so you can use the larger hunting rifles.
