Brand new mossberg full of rust

Interesting. I bought a BNIB Mossberg from a sponsoring vendor. Inside the barrel and mag tube was a bunch of stuff that looked like rust. Turned out was some kind of nasty goop from the manufacturing process. Cleaned up with a little Hoppes and some patches.

If it truly is rust, i'd be firing off an e-mail to Mossberg with some pictures.

Mossberg service and warranty depots, never dealt with either.

They use a lot of that grease on pistols as well but it could freak someone out for the first time seeing it.

Email sent,, getting errors downloading pics, will do again tomorrow. as EL34 said I heard the same. I think they are just a dealer, who don't want to deal with someone elses customers.

I'LL NEVER BUY ANOTHER MOSSBERG SHOTGUN AGAIN!

Oh wait, I already decided that well before reading this thread.
I have a mossberg 930 just returned from Grech for warranty work. Has two barrels and is slightly used and been already twice for work. Can sell you it 500 plus shipping. Lol.

A buddy of mine just bought a new in the box, un opened, Mossberg 500 3 barrel, (yesterday) that is full of RUST. He brought it to me to take it apart, clean, and lube it. Inside all 3 barrels RUST. The shell chamber RUST, the chamber screws that hold s the barrels in RUST. The female nut for those screws RUST. Even the small metal piece on the safety, inside the action RUST. I know it isn't an expensive gun, but this is totally unacceptable. The trigger assembly and the firing pin assembly were filled with enough CRAP grease to grease 4 guns completely, that had to be removed or it probably wouldn't even shoot.

This is just a warning, before you buy one of these take a close look.

Are you sure it wasn't a Remington?
