Brand New Red Label from Prophet River Firearms.

Nice Gun! I've got a 12 and 20 in the Sporting Clays configuration with the 30" barrels, and I really like them! On some internet sites there is a lot of Red Label bashing, but I take it with a grain of salt. No problems with either of mine, although I'm not putting 20,000 rounds a year through them. Enjoy!

Never owned one, but I have been around those who have since the red label first came out. Never heard of one complaint. I sell guns part time. Never seen one red label come back. I would have owned a couple, but I have never had one off the rack that fit me. That's not the gun's fault. Those internet experts must know something I don't. At its price point I think the red label is a very good value.

I picked up one in 20ga years ago, to use as my west coast rainy day Grouse gun.

And that way;), I can save my SxS 12ga English double for my sunny day Grouse gun.

Nice photos,.. Kinda like I opened the box myself on Christmas morning.

Thanks for that!.. I recall the same feeling after opening the box on my new Red Label, so many years ago.

Its a great gun and has served me well... some how she cant miss what Im shooting at:p

Best of luck with that perty thing!...:)

I have had one with a cracked for end that was on warranty but was never resolved, I put that up to Ruger's warrant peopl in Canada however.
I saw anoither with the same problem, but O/U's typically have very thin fore ends and it doesn't take too much pressure on them to crack them.
That is the only problem I have ever seen wit a Red Label, I just wish the Gold Labels were not so expensive!!

Rugers warranty reputation is really quite high, which is what sold me on the gun as opposed to a more expensive gun. As far as the fore end I very much agree that they are very thin. I notice the wood flex ever so much and I have to make a conscious effort not to grip it too tight.

Regarding the gold label, one of the fellas at the Skeet club I shoot at has one, VERY nice gun. Very light and delicate feeling as compared to the Red Label. I suppose that is the norm for something of that sort.

Anthony very nice Ruger, welcome to the club! The only NIB shotgun I ever bought was my Ruger Redlabel English stocked 28ga, this will be with me for a very long time! I have way more expensive shotguns, but the ruger is dependable and a treat to carry! Good luck and take care, cheers Dale Z!

Dave Tilden of Ruger came up with idea for the Sporting shotguns. He is a great guy and one good shot! The chokes you have are made by Briely as well as the choke wrench. I have owned a 20 gauge and shot several of the 28 gauge Sporting prototypes, very well at some of themajor shoots in 90s. Most early Rugers would end up with a loose foreend. That has been solved. My 20 was tight. The cast S/S construction is corosion resistant but Stainless on stainless does not like to rub, it galls. One needs to keep all stainless touching parts well lubricated with something like BreakFree. It is something I learned in 80s shooting a S/S 1911.

Enjoy the Ruger.
Henry;)
