Brand new Sp-01 Shadow stovepiping?

Hi,

Just bought a brand new Sp-01 shadow. Ran about 200 rounds and had an average of 3 stovepipes per 20 rounds, so say 30 so far.

Pistol has been cleaned and oiled properly before use. I'm shooting only reloads right now: 4.5gr of W231, frontier 124gr and WSP so max load according to Lyman.

Ran about 1200 of these in my G17 and no probs so far.

I had a look over the CZ forums and Angus Hobdell suggests switching recoil spring for a 14lb. To what I understand SP-01 is oversprung to handle +p and +p+ military loads and has some problems digesting standard ammo.

I'd like to know if anybody here has been through something like that, before I order new springs?

Thanks

Go with the 14# recoil spring. If you load light (128-130 PF) drop down to a 11# spring. I don't reload and use standard factory loads, so I run a 14# spring in my gun.

i had a similar problem with a CZ in 40
i saved each pc of brass that stove piped when i got 5 pcs. I measured it:eek:

rim size was smaller than brass that did not stove pipe so undersize brass problem or not enough spring pressure on extractor not recoil spring problem

ps also had it happen to a 1911 clone with bad extractor toss in went colt replacement no problem then back :sniper:

rapidfire stated that he ran 1200 rounds through his GLOCK and had no problems. Are you saying that most of the 200 rounds he ran through the CZ are undersized for the CZ and not the GLOCK? Also he stated his gun is new. Weak extractor spring on a new gun? Not likely. The 14# recoil spring for the CZ Shadow, SP-01, 75B/85B,C is correct for standard pressure 9mm loads. Angus Hobdell probably shoots more rounds in a week than I do in a year. I will take his word over yours. No offense.

Lighter recoil springs for light reloads in 75bs and SP01s are a must for reliability.
They are 18lbs stock IIRC.

I run the 11 lb with my 147 gr/3.9 unique reloads.

The 14lb caused occasional stove pipes.

The 14lb worked with the 124 grain reloads but I like the recoil of the 147s much better. A push , no snap and no bark.

I finally ordered a 11lbs as I will only run reloads through the Sp-01. cant wait to sort it out.
This gun is a beauty to shoot, instantly more accurate than my G17 in my hands, points naturally and it double tap very tight.

will keep you guys posted about it.
