Glad you ditched the pic rail. Took away from the look of the gun and the operation of the receiver top sight/stock lock as well.

Because TI only selling the upgraded version , not the one released into US market. External improvements are minimal and not readily noticeable to the untrained eye
Tried my SP-12 today.
Gun was disassembled, inspected, and reassembled without the magazine tube spring retainer to have 6 2.75" shells in the tube as advertised in the Tactical imports page. A longer spring was added to ensure proper feeding, as factory spring was barely the length of the mag tube + extension. New spring was approximately 2.25x the length of the magazine tube with the extension.
No extra cleaning or lubrication.
Put about 75 shells of mixed Score buckshot and slugs through it. Issues found:
- Experience double feeds every single time the gun was fully loaded, with less double feeds as the gun emptied.
- Occasional failures to feed, hull ejected from chamber but next shell hung up halfway out of magtube. Disassembled at the range with no apparent cause for issues.
- Pump mechanism was engaged. First shot in pump mode caused the action to seize shut. Had to mortar the charging handle to eject spent hull. Rest of pump mode shot ejected correctly, while still experiencing double feeds and failures to feed.
- The two screws that attach the heatshield to the barrel had come loose. Heatshield could move 3-4 mm front and back on the barrel.
- Choke quickly got loose, no wrench provided to tighten so it was removed for the duration of the tests. Choke attaches externally to the barrel which has external threads, so no damage was done while shooting the gun with the choke removed.
There were glaring issues out of the box as well. Some potentially so significant I can't talk about them.
- Gun is so tight out of the box, the bolt release cannot be used with one finger. Both hands needed to be gripping the receiver tightly, and then the bolt release button had to be pressed with significant force to get the action to close from the locked open position. Working the action is helping to loosen up the button, but it is still significantly tight.
- In the folded position, the stock latch was locked into the rear sight so tight, stock had to be removed from the receiver to release. A rubber guard was pressed into the stock, tensioning the entire stock against the receiver. It has been removed, and the latch can be operated freely now.
- The mechanism for switching between pump and semi was insanely tight. The instructions literally say to "wiggle the forend to help the switch". Wiggling did not help. Applying oil to the mechanism and the forend track did.
- The doublefeed was being caused by the aluminum follower, which was binding up in the magtube. Replaced it with a basic plastic orange 870 follower and issues went away.
- Heatshield is attached to the barrel with two crappy screws. They came loose, and heatshield rattles. Had to apply loctite, and retorque them.
Another shoot is planned for later this week.

Having soaked up as much information as I could about the SPAS-12 from YouTube, Forgotten Weapons, etc., this thing is very, very close.
Childhood dream fulfilled.
It is also wholly impractical. The weight and size of it, coupled with its lack of refinement, is immediately obvious. My Benelli M2 SP is so much lighter, faster on target with its fibre-optic sights, and generally more refined. It would run circles around this thing.
But that’s not what this shotgun is for.

That’s not so good.
My stock releases from the sight pretty easily.
My selector, to go from auto to pump, is sticky but doable.
My bolt release isn’t buttery smooth but I can release it with one finger.
Haven’t shot mine yet.
I think I’ll leave my limiter in. See if it runs with it. They seem to be temperamental with magazine spring pressure. I do have other magazine springs, and some S&J no jam followers.
Better tighten the heatshield screws and swap the magtube follower.
Probably a good idea to leave the limiter in, I can't remember if it was on aGen 1 or 2 review, and removing the limiter caused problems, while returning it in place allowed it to work. It was also noted it liked full power to loads for the first 200 rounds. You may have better luck changing the spring and using a differnt spring without the limiter after breaking her in as she came from the factory for a while first. Good luck!

Ahhh..the nostalgia….makes this a must buy…
Im trying to look for a +2 spring for a remington 870. According to a video post earlier its should fit. But it seem to be out of stock everywhere, including good old numrich. I also have a 870 tube extention without a spring laying around wich could use it in case it dosent help.
Just get a universal spring kit, they can be found in Canada, trim as needed

I’m not a defender of corporate products, but do you think swapping out the factory spring for a non-factory spring is the cause of the issues? Do you want to try to swap it back to factory and see?
Whenever I get a new gun I never ever swap out factory parts before I try it, to do a control test for reliability and then I look into it (still never have on any firearms).
I’m thinking the double feeds are because the tube spring is out of spec and too compressed. Just my two cents.

I wanna see some reviews in this thread! Brutally honest, does it shoot well? Functionality out of the box? Quality control? How’s the machining look? Do you personally think the asking price is worth it? Or are we shelling out a little too much for a Turkish shotgun?
Mine is a keeper no matter what. 42 years of pining, this will be a "whoops lost er fishing bud" if the feds ever come looking to buy (steal) it back.
Hell I might just get a second one in the next batch for a parts gun. I kick myself for not ordering two....

Thats not at all what capitalism is. Capitalism would be a society where the company selling these guns would be able to scale their supply of these guns to meet the exact demand there is to purchase them. The fact there is a limited supply (due entirely to govt regulations and caution caused by unpredictable and illegal govt interference) is why scalpers can charge obscene prices, because the supply is manipulated by means outside of the capitalist framework. Under capitalism profit is the reward for creating economically useful goods (creating this spas clone) improving efficiency (importing the spas clones from turkey for you en mass), or providing a genuine service (selling you the spas clone and handling the warranty and parts) that benefits society. Scalping does not do any of those things. Scalping is like a first year marxist activist's idea of what capitalism is and how it works.
