For plinking ammo I like CCI standard & blaser, AE and winchester T-22 target. The only ammo I've ever had problems with is winchester wildcat or Xpert ( I don't remember which).
Ok so I guess I should go out and buy 50rd boxes of various brands and just try a bunch of them out and see which ones I should stick with? or should I buy a bit more (a brick of each)?
This is exactly what i am doing. Any advises, suggestion on what to use to feed a single-shot Cooey? So far my rifle don't like the copper-plated Winchester short, but CCI Blazer seems to be good.
The blazers and thunderbolts do not work well in any of my .22 (about 8)
the most accurate ammo I find is Winchester super X in 40 or 37gr, followed by the CCI, winchester 333/555 bulk ammo, Federal. Dyanpoints work decently in all of my guns as well. Of course Eley works nicely as well, but not enough to justify the extra cost.
I recently bought a couple boxes of WINCHESTER 200th anniversary nickel plated .22LR for 20$/500rounds at Le Baron. Didn’t try them yet but that vintage box is ###y.
Definitely are the most accurate ammo in my 1022. Found some of the bulk Winchester for just blasting with. Somtimes you can even hear the different powder charge. Bangs and some poofs with the cheaper bulk. Mini Mags are very consistant but you gotta pay more. So bulk for goofing around and Mini Mags for gophers. Have to shoot 50 or so through the barrel though just to get it aclimatized again.
I have shot a lot of different branded 22LR in my Ruger 10/22, every single box I have tried EXCEPT for Thunderbolts work in it flawlessly. But then again thunderBOLTS were meant for a bolt action firearm. I stay clear of them, and otherwise buy whatever is the cheapest for plinking
Blazers grouped the best in both my savages but had a sticky buildup after 500 rds in the fss and 1500 in the fvt that causes ftes and seems to be really hard to clean out. After cleaning both guns were doing it again within 50 rds. Dynapoints are a bit quieter but never seem to group well in anything I own. The 333/555 are low on the QC and the win expert is even worse. Mini mags always work well and my cz452s love them as well as stingers and velocitors. Happy with the remington eley in the plastic black box as well.
