A buddy of mine pulled this out of his basement last week and wanted to get rid of it so I took it.

Brasilian Mauser Mq .30 M954

I do not know much about them - and there is litte info on the net that I can find also, anyone have a good site about these? Know anything about them?

All I can really find is that these are Brazilian rebuilt DWM M1908 to Mqe 1954 .30 Grenade Launcher .30-06.

Looks like that one should clean up well :)

As your surmise, these mausers are either M1908's or M1935's that have been re-manufactured into karabiners at the Itajuba arsenal in Brazil to fire the .30-06 round.

Generally they are parkerized like yours. Often the wood is also modified from the original stocks.

Make sure you get it headspaced to make sure it's safe to fire. If it is, then go have fun with it :)
