ok, so I've run into a little problem. Lord knows its not going to be the first, nor is it the last, but this is a good one I think. I was trying out my reloading bench last night now that I've got my press secured to the table (its a students small desk, not secured to the wall...thats not possible at my place) by running different brass through they're resizing dies (mostly FL dies). I'm not able to do full bullets yet, so this was a good start for me. The 9mm was first, no problems at all (not that I expected any), than 5.56mm (which was a little stiff on the way up, but I used a little more lube and it worked just fine) and so far the press hadn't tried to jump off the table and attack me on the sizing run at all so this was an improvement. So now onto the big sizes ... 30-06 and 303 Brit. Couldn't find my 30-06 brass seat so I switched over to my 303 Brit. During the switchover, my gf ... um ... distracted me for a little while. Anyways, I get back, and put a 303 Brit through the 30-06 die. I thought something was wrong so I tried 2 more...yup, something didn't feel right. Thats when I realized my mistake, and switched out the dies. So I take one of those first brass and put it into the right die, on the way up, it got hard near the top and I heard a metal on metal friction sound. Thats when I pulled out the deprimer still in the brass. So now I have the deprimer pin, spring and housing in the brass and I can't get it out. Any ideas on this one aside from don't let the GF distract me next time...lol

ok, so I got the deprimer removed by placing it all back into the die and removing the primer holding cap on top of the die. Put ram all the way up, replaced holding cap, and lowered ram... I now have a few questions. I noticed that I can't put the brass all the way up into the die. There's about a 1/4" or less gap from the primer up, is this normal? I don't think it is and therefore I don't think that I've done it right. As well, is the die ok to continue using or have I done something bad to it and now it needs replacing?

may this teach you a lesson.
Next time your GF distracts you, you spend the rest of the evening with her and wake up
the next morning all refreshed thinking properaly with correct head.:)
Reloading and girlfriends require dilagent attention but not both at same time.
