How often do you trim your rifle brass?

Is there a safe amount that brass can streach, how much does it streach before you trim?

Thanks for all answers.
:)

Measure the cases with a vernier. If they're longer than the max case length given in your manual, trim to the 'trim-to' length given in your manual and chamfer the iside of the case mouth and deburr the outside.
The operative words are 'in your manual'. If you don't have a manual, you need one.

In my manual there is only one length for .308 brass, 2.015"

My question is what are the tolarances +/- that are safe, how much can this brass streach and still be ok to fire

2.010 (is this safe or should I scrapp the brass)
2.015 (ideal lenght)
2.020
2.025
2.030 (I know this is too long)

Thanks

2.015 is the longest the brass can be. Not the ideal length. The trim-to length in my Lyman manual is 2.005. That being the minimum length. 2.010 is fine. 2.020 is too long. Pitch the brass if it's under minimum.
2.016 may or may not be too long. It depends on the chamber of your rifle. Some chambers can be cut a wee bit longer or shorter than others. I know that doesn't help much.
I'd be trimming at 2.016, but I'm looking for absolute consistency. You want the brass all the same length to eliminate seating issues.
You'll find that new brass stretches the most on it's first firing and you won't have to trim every time you reload. Measure every time though. Especially if you have a semi-auto. Semi's are more particular about the ammo than a bolt action.
