Hey guys, this question is for shooters that reload and are very good shooters.could you tell me what accuracy you can expect from your handloads.lets say at 300 metres with a five shot group.would it be possible for one hole groups .what size would it take to be competitive.thanks in advance

Depends on the factory rifle... Your title is interesting but it needs some additions to equal accuracy at distance. Brass type, Brass prep, powder type, primers, powder consistency, bullet type, type of rest etc. etc. including the experience of the shooter all enter into the elusive perfect all in one hole group.

weigh your brass and skim turn your necks, uniform the primer pockets and debur the flash holes.........then sit at the table and........
measure your bullets for OAL length and sort them into groups separated by 5 thou differences......no take those groups and sort them by base to ogive length in 5 thou differences.....and then take those sub groups and weight sort them......after sorting 1000 berger bullets you'll have one big group of 300 bullets for the big matches, 200 bullets for the small matches, and a whole bunch of practice batches and fouler bullets

If you can't get a particular bullet to shoot for you, try another lot number....I have berger bullets from 2 lots that are 40 thou different in overall length one lot number shoots split groups at every distance, the other lot number shoots round holes....my barrel prefers the shorter of the 2

Good answer.

I bet he is sorry he asked.

Competitive at what is the biggest question.

If you go to a registered benchrest match. There you will see shooters who can occasionally shoot a legitimate (5 shot) 1/4" group, i.e <0.100" MOA at 300y. 1/2'' groups are certainly shot on a regular basis. In the F class world 1-1.5'' at 300m is common depending on conditions.

Thanks guys, this is the answer I was looking for. I probably didn't word it correctly.

Reality; at 1000mtrs groups in the 6" and less are good 5 shot groups bring that back to 300mtrs, divide by 4 considering wind, mirrage etc.
Yes lot of groups are smaller but a lot depends on conditions.
Enjoy
