Got bored at work the other weekend and decided to make a pair of brass(aluminum bronze...) sling swivels for my coach gun...

Turned out pretty good if I do say so. Look way better than store bought anyway...

Whatcha think?

Sweet looking stuff.
Just a thought, how long will the brass eyes survive the swivel of the
swivels before they are a concern?
Not trying to hijack this or anything but this may be an option.
The reason I'm asking is I have a swivel squeek and it drives me nuts
walking in the bush. I need to pull my strap under my hand while carrying
the rifle and put weight on the sling when shouldered. Squeek, squeek, squeek.
Maybe brass would be softer to stop this irritable noise???

I'm not sure if they'll squeak or not. It seems logical that they may not, but I havent really done anything with the gun since installing them so I cant say at this point. I usualy just put a tiny bit of grease on my squeaky swivels though...

As to the longevity of the eyes, Aluminum bronze is interesting stuff because although it is relatively soft, it is very wear resistant. We use Aluminum bronze at work for bushing aplications where we want the shaft to wear before the bushing(to protect an expensive housing) So if anything it should out last the steel swivel...

Check if the stud on your swivel is still peened tight or if it can turn. I had that same stupid squeek, and swore it was the swivel turning in the swivel stud - it wasnt. The little stud on your swivel should not be able to turn in the arm its peened in... if it does, thats where your squeek is.
