Brass Trimmers

Depending on the amount you do each time. You cango from a hand trimmer to a mandril hand turned trimmer to a trimmer that uses electricity. I think there is a lot more control when you can actually "feel" what you are doing. I personally use a rcbs trim pro hand spun trimmer. It is infinitely adjustable and can be used for each and every caliber with the right arbor for each. I reload up to 500 each week of various calibers. And i usually trim after measuring the casings when 5x fired.

I have a RCBS trimmer(hand cranker). I have used it on 6mm,.223, .270 and .30-06 for years. I recently tried to trim some 30-30's for a neighbor and my collet won't hold the head tight. They just spin off. I have tightened it as tight as possible without stripping the threads. Any suggestions?...ST...

Saddle tramp.....I think that from all the use over the years and the collet slipping over the notch that fits the 30-30 to tighten onto the 30.06, that the shoulder is worn off. You can order another part from RCBS and likely they will send FOC. Best I can do for you...just a theory.

I had a Forester but when I got my 500 S&W, I found I needed something that would handle the larger diameter so I upgraded to a Lyman Universal. Excellant, although one of the few pieces of reloading equipment I have that isn't RCBS.

I have a #1 collet in my trimmer. Is it the right one for a 30-30? What do the #'s 2,3 and 4 fit?...ST...
