Brass value

Somebody once told me that a five gallon bucket of spent brass was worth $100.00 or so at a scrap metal dealer. Has anybody done this and is it true? Where do you take it?

Local (to me) dealers pay about a dollar per pound. You have to garantee that there are a) no live rounds and b) no steel - only brass.

The scrap dealers here in Calgary give me $1.20 a pound on mixed scrap. It often contains steel and aluminum cases (but not a high percentage). Rates fluctuate with the current market price of brass.

About 40 pounds. Depends on how full it is.

I live in the GTA and all the scrap dealoer will NOT take "gun brass" thier might be a live rnd and it could kill somebody

I told them a drop of water in more dangerous when melting it down then a live rnd Ive got approx 60lbs of brass here just got to find someone to sell it too

fyi ice cream pails hold about 1k of 9mm/45acp- or just slightly more- i just did 3 of them

I just sold some last week. The 5 gal. pail of rifle cases weighed 54lbs pail included and the scrap recycler gave me $1.55 per pound.
