Brass VS Nickel Plated Brass

Been doing some reloading for a friend with some once fired brass for a 338 win mag. I put the Brass only
cartridges on my Innovative Tech. guage to check the before readings on the shoulder and then repeated after resizing
the same on the nickel plated brass cartridges. The all brass cartridges are from 5 to 8 thousands of an inch
higher then the nickel plated. I don't know what I'm missing here but I'm missing something, and I can't proceed
till I figure out whats happened. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

i can't say for sure, so this is purely an "educated" guess. nickel is harder then brass so it might be enough to keep the brass from springing back after resizing.

as well i would be careful on the reloading for a buddy thing, being sued and all.

If they chamber, what's the problem?
Fire form and neck size. Extends brass life significantly and some report improved accuracy (I don't notice a difference).

I agree with lutnit, if the chamber and have no cracks they will be fine. If this is for ultra accurate ammunition then use them as plinking rounds. Or sell them.

I have heard lots of disparaging comments on nickel plated brass over the years BUT in my 45 colt ; which I realize is not a high pressure round ; I have Nickel cases with 17 reloads under their belt and in my 308 Win; Nickel cases that are at 6 reloads. My 308 's are neither squib or rung out, just an average velocity.
