...wondering if anyone has any experience with this product???. My local shop talked me into purchasing a can. It seems awful messy when applied and I don't see it cleaning much. I have not had my firearms I used it on in the field yet though. Your thoughts on this stuff???

shake it....shake it....shake it like a polaroid picture :)

as a cleaner, I don't like it very much. however, as protectant I trust it 100%.

you need to shake it since the parts seperate easily ;)

Did for a spell, found it hard on the hands, as I don't wear gloves.

It IS hard on the hands. I buy boxes of those blue poly gloves at Princess Auto now, as I'm done perma-cracked skin on my fingers.

For cleaning with CLP, try applying it and leaving it for a few days, it'll sweat out the carbon pretty well. The L and P parts are excellent. The C part, well, not so much if you're in a hurry.

Cheers,
DT

Ditto... great preservative. I use other things for cleaning....

...thx. for input guys. Do many of you use brake-kleen. I know it cleans well but am concerned if it damages plastic parts like the trigger group etc. I would be happy to use it with some compressed air if I knew lots of other guys did. I like the price too ;)

Break Free

.... From personal experience , there are probably better actual cleaners on the market, but "Break Free" combines a lubricant and preservative features, and as such, is pretty good all round. It really has to be SHAKEN throughly before usage ! It's good enough for the RCMP to use it for the stainless steel 5946 pistols and the Mp5's ...... David K.

I've been using it for ages...just got two new huge aerosols of the stuff...guns just purr with CLP...

Hi,

Used it in the army for years, it has teflon particles which settle at the bottom of the container, so it must be shaken well before use. It was introduced at the same time as the C-7, a seven day cleaning cycle was the order of the day, like we ever had the time for that. I think it was introduced to stop us from scrubbing the c-7 to a "shine" like we used to do with the old C1's and prematurely wear them out. I always found it a bit light for cold climates (Arctic). I would not use it on my own guns, but that is just my opinion.

It's my favorite. You DO have to shake it well, which is where most people fail in following the directions, and end up not reaping the full benefit of the product. It's not an instant cleaner, but it's outstanding if you leave it on overnight (they recommend min 2 hours on the can). I have no problems getting 500 rounds of cheap ammo depisits from my stainless cylinder with just a rag wipe, even does great on lead and copper with some brush scrubbing. A little goes A LONG way, I can't believe how much I wasted when I first started using it, friggen got everywhere, it spreads and creeps amazing well. Use that well developed trigger finger to ease a bit of spray out at a time, don't just push the button like you would a can of WD-40. CLP + Armco's moly grease is my favorite lube combo, completely exceeds my expectations.

LOL,

Jumped into the mid-north? one time, it was so cold the few trees around were exploding, from the sap I guess, damn near froze to death. The next year we jumped into the same place, we all jumped in double the kit to stay warm, it was + 10 for over a week. We wore the runners right off the tobaggans pulling them through the mud and rocks:D
