Breaking!!! Colt Canada MRR Release

Fenceline thank you for all the info.

I've been following Odell also...but it's great to have all this info in one place.

Seems like CC has decided to set aside some 'uppers' for the Canadian civilian market when they build military uppers.

At least that's how I'm reading this.

Separate uppers would be great.... Not to mention bcg's...

I posted a question on O'Dell's Facebook page regarding the possibility of getting just an upper and they said it was in the works. So it you may be able to get an upper separately. I already have an SA20 and their IUR, so it would be a simple thing for me to swap out my existing set up for a MRR upper and SA20 lower... I do like the idea of getting a new, complete rifle, but you can only shoot one at a time.

Might go for an upper in a 14.5" configuration as I already have the other 2 length barrels. I'd guess that the cost of the upper to be about $1k or less. It would be nice if they are sold with a charging handle and BCG.

Gee, sure love overgassed rifles. Think I'll be passing on the DMR model then

Colt Canada (as Diemaco) was instrumental in the testing of the 5.56 cartridge and the AR platform for NATO trials back in the day. I'm willing to bet they understand the design abilities and limitations of the rifle/carbine. For that reason alone I'm willing to at least wait and see how the rifle shoots instead of relying on Internet speculation given before the rifle is even touched by the public.

Nordic Marksman is selling bcg and charging handles individually right now. They are parting out complete iur rifles to do so.

The gas port must be .030 or something.... At least I hope. Or it's rifle lenght, which it should be.

I guess had it come out in 2014, $2099. But since it's 2016 and the loonie isn't worth anything anymore, $2449...

The gas port must be extremely tiny then. But knowing them they probably tested the #### out of this gas port size.

I do hope your wrong. I got my SA20 in October for $1799 and they're currently going for $1599 if you can find them. Yes the Canadian dollar is tanking, but these rifles are for domestic civilian sales, with Colt Canada having the benefit of Government contracts to ensure a steady cash flow, it is possible for them to offer a couple of hundred rifles that they will make available to the civilian market at a fair price as civilian sales are not their primary source of income. Civilian sales would allow them to keep the factory line up and running between contract runs.

Remember they had 500 SA15.7 and 500 SA20's for sale and it's taken over a year to sell out of the SA15's with some SA20's still floating around. Pricing these rifles from about $1800 to $2200 would enable them to make a small profit. The number of people who can and will shell out thousands and thousands of dollars on these rifles is very limited and in order to make sales they have to be priced according to what the Canadian market can afford.

I suspect that a significant portion of their civilian sales will be for just the uppers to those individuals who currently have a Diemaco rifle. If it's priced right, I'm pretty sure I'll be getting a new MRR to sit in my vault along with my SA20 and IUR Upper. But if it's priced at $2,500 or more as some may fear, then I'd rather just pay $1k and get the upper to mate it to my SA20.

Just my 2 cents.

I think that CC is contracts first, civvies second, but this surely has to be an example of a manufacturer of Canadian goods doing really well due to the exchange rate. If only there were more manufacturers in Canada creating jobs.
