Breaking In an Unfired SKS

Ok, then if the polish got it they put a laminate stock on it, as they came with a birch hardwood stock, or it was refurbed somewhere and got the new stock then! I am sorry but do not know what you mean by overmolded in regards to SKS, is it covered with a poly or rubber coating?

If you go to the stickies above and the SKS FAQs by the Curtton, about halfway down the page you will se a pic of a birch stock and a laminate stock SKS does your laminate look like that one!

Bobdbldr, what I mean by overmolded is that the outer dimensions of the stock profile are greater than that of both the Soviet birch and soviet laminate stocks.
Where they fit to the buttplate, crossbolt, and barrel forend attachment, you can see an exaggerated step condition to the outer mold form of the stock.
It's like they made the stock extra fat for the long Polish piano player fingers.
Also, Soviet stocks, both solid and laminate, are finished with some kind of red shellac that can be scrubbed away with methyl hydrate.
This stock is a distinctly golden colour with a hard varnish that looks like it will need proper stripper to remove.

Is there 3 or 4 scallops in the upper handguard? Is there a place for the cleaning kit in the buttplate? Also is there 2 crossbolts, 1 in usual spot and one at the wrist of the stock? Pics of the rifle would be awesome and helpful.
I have a Russian with blonde light laminate stock that is a refurb , the laminate stocks on the Russian refurbs aren't always the red lacquer like the originals are known for.

Yea without pics, don't know, where did you buy it? Someone might have put an aftermarket stock on it!

From what I read, the polish rifles are refurbed and it looks like their stock has a crossbolt or some kind of bolt just around the grip of the stock, the Russian didn't have that! Does look a bit thicker!
Edit : just seen sigruns commented the same thing already!

Upper handguard has 3 scallops, but it's a forced match. There's a slightly visible serial number beneath the current electro penciled one.
2 crossbolts, normal for a laminated stock.
Normal trap door for the cleaning kit in the buttplate.
No refurb markings of any sort anywhere.
Other than the gas tube, none of the serial numbers look like they've been force matched in any way.
The bolt face looks like it came straight off the milling machine.
Rails in the receiver for the bolt carrier and the sear / mag release all are blued and crunchy.

My feeling is that the Polish contract simply involved taking Soviet units, trashing their stocks and mounting their own.
In my case, I suspect it arrived in Poland having suffered some "armory rash", necessitating replacement of the gas tube assembly.
Other than the stock and gas tube, everything else looks period correct for a 1950, except the rear cover release lever has a looped tab, which suggests it was an early 1950 build with a bit of 1949 still in it.

This is a picture of a polish Sks , it's basically a Russian Sks but sits in a polish made unique stock.
Main differences are it is slightly bulkier/larger , has 4 rounded scallops in upper hand guard, 2 cross bolts and no spot in buttplate for cleaning kit. Also very light blonde laminate.

Step 1 ) Fully strip and clean all parts of the rifle
Step 2 ) Reassemble said rifle
Step 3 ) Insert Gatteries into said rifle
Step 4 ) Apply preassure to the bangswitch with your booger flicker
Step 5 ) Repeat until Gatteries are expended
Step 6 ) Goto Step 3

This is how you break in an SKS.
