So i've had a couple plastic baseplates break dumping them on concrete floors. I'm sure i'm not the only one who has had this problem. anyone have any solutions for me? or should i just order a crapload of extrabasepads?

pffft IDPA. in IPSC if i retain my mags i loose. Too much time lost. Though i suppose that could be an option. i was thinking maybe some soft velcro or something may cushin the fall a little? I know i'm not the only one to have this problem, i'm just hoping someone has found a solution.

There are a few of us that do both and you just get in a habit of retaining.

thanks for the suggestion but i'm looking for a way that i can dump them without breaking them. I may just make my own baseplates and weld them on. But thats alot of work.

A piece of foam works good but could prevent your gun from fitting in the box and then bumping you into Open. I would suggest switch to metal base pads. They will break also but it will take a lot longer.

I have a Taurus 24/7 pro. there are no metal basepads for them, not a common enough gun. I'd have to make some and i'm pretty lazy so i was hoping a quick fix would help. I'll do some measuring and see if i can add a cushion of somekind that will fit in the box

You can contact cement on a piece of leather too. You can get sheets of leather from any hobby shop. You might be able to find a thickness that will let your mags fit in the box and still take some of the sting out of the drop.

The box is 25cmx15cmx4.5cm there is LOTS of room in the box for basepads. my gun is only 6cm tall at it's tallest so i can put 9cm basepads on it.... lol

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you're shooting you 24/7 in Production Division, adding foam or leather to your base pads would not be allowed.

well what you have here is a perfect excuse to go buy a different gun. :)
ask around at your club or usual matches, good chance there is a machinist who can rip some up for you, fairly simple to make

awww i've been thinking about biting the bullet and buying a shadow anyways... i'm just partial to 40 though. I never have really liked 9mm

While the rules in IPSC Production call for no added parts to base pads I would think that for a club event on a concrete floor that they would be willing to turn a blind eye to the use of added pads for that event.

Some baseplates with the big hollow could be set up with plug in molded pads or even shaved down wine cork for the event and be removed later. On guns with flat bases rubber cement (not the harsher contact cement) and a thick leather or 1/8 sheet rubber pad could be used for the event and easily removed.

I know I would not want to be dumping my mags onto cement floors just for a practice night or even club level match.

They make them in 40??? since when i've ony ever seen them in 9mm.. or are you talking about that "tactical sport" like andy's?

You are correct unless it's the SP-01 Tactical or 75B then we have a choice.

The Tactical Sport is one sweet pistol and the trigger is sweet. But I want to stay in Production and 9mm.
