Breaking news, Remington 710's are POS!

Correction: Sometimes you get what you pay for. However you will always fail to get what you didn't pay for.

Cheers.

Kinda like you miss 100% of the shots you don't take...lol...:p

NAA.

i always thought Remington makes quality firearms
ill have to think again before buying my hunting rifle

They used to.

I am starting to think they have been hiring rejects from GM, for management, though, and are competitive in the race to the bottom. They have been sticking their name on some goods that would have better not been associated with theirs, and they have been cheaping out on quality control of late.

Cheers

I only own one Remington, it's a 700 VSF. Never had a problem with it. Although I do think it was slightly overpriced. Remington definitely can't do the budget rifle deal like Savage/Stevens or Marlin. Oddly enough though, Remington owns Marlin now.

I have owned several factory Remington 700s and Model 7s,and haven't had a problem with any of them except for one failed extractor. However,I would never own a 710 or 770.

With all the talk about Remington's QC going south, does it strike anyone as odd that they went to Europe to get some of their lineup (798 and Baikal knock-offs)?

And, that is a 700, not a 710.

Ted

... As witnessed by the large rollmark reading "Model 700". You beat me to it Ted.

That said, the 710 and 770 are f**king tragic pieces of s**t in every respect, as far as I'm concerned. As is the 887 shotgun, for that matter.

I have owned at least 6 Remington 700's, manufactured from the late '80's up to 2007, and all were fine rifles with good to phenomenal accuracy, depending on which we're talking about. I like them a lot.

All I know is that I got a 700 and I am very happy with it. But for $1600 I wouldn't expect any less!

they keep marking them because people keep buying them(but as the 770 now).

the boresighting is of course forgiveable, as its saposed to be "close" at 100 yards. depending on what kind they use it could be very far off is the end of the bbl is crooked.

people seem to think bore sighting gets the firearm within 5 inches at 100 yards, this is far from the case. i have a savage 12 in 223 i have used the magnetic ones that stick on the bbl. and the ones that stick in the bbl, neither get the gun anywhere close at 100 yards (maybe on a 10' x 10' pice of paper)

Using my own Bushnell boresighter,I have always been on the paper within 3" to 6" of the bullseye at 100 yards. You have to know your bore sighter and be familiar with using it.I can't speak for the magnetic units, because I have never used one.

Remington = junk

Only decent remingtons i've seen is the 760, 7600, and the 870 shotguns, when i bought my last rifle looked at the different types the remington 700's i looked at every one of them the magazine rattled around like a tin can attached to a car, bought a savage american classic which i believe is a much better rifle.:nest:
