Has anyone tried these 209 replacement plugs that use .25 or other primers for ignition. I have heard some pretty good rersults from www.bpbullets.com about their stuff. Is one better then the other ie. variflame over .25. Any input would be great.

I have just heard of remingtons new primer that will make these breech plug mods a little out of date. But that .25 acp looks like it would be handy to use when wearing gloves.

My buddy got the .25ACP. I don't think the variflame was available yet when he bought his. I will be going with the .25ACP. If I loose a brass while hunting it is easy and cheap to replace. I also think that the variflame would be a pain to use when wearing gloves.

Well gentlemen if I may add my experiences there are two other alternative you may consider as well to get greater spark. I am not familiar with the 25 cal brass method above, but is what I tried.

Just so we are all on the same page, I have an Italian made side lock carbine in 50 Cal. I have a stainless steel adaptor nipple and cap that uses 12 gauge primers. Very positive. When I “snap a cap with theses” there is enough force expelled to send empty 22 rf brass flying.

The other, is an adaptor nipple to use musket caps. Both are better alternative when using gloves. Just my 2 cents.

Regards and merry Christmas

Well I just ordered a .25 acp breech plug from the caanadian supplier to the above site along with fifty extra brass. I hope to take them out next week for a run through. The canadian sit is www.prbullets.com by the way, same prices as the U.S. site.
