Hi guys I am trying to decide which barrel length I should get for my next wife-pending approval pewpew stick, the Bren 2!
But I am not sure what barrel length I should choose......For 8 inch you can have fireball fun all day long but then again for 11 inch you get a good balanced ballstic performence, whats your take ?

Anyone have any reliability issue on Bren 2 with short barrels?

Plus I have a noob question, is Bren 2 build for 223 or 5.56? I have seen vendor saying it is build for 5.56 Nato but then on other vendor it is 223 Rem.......To my limited knowledge these rounds have different chamber pressure so can Bren 2 handle 5.56? Thanks!

I've been asking myself this lately but instead 8 vs 11 vs 16.5 vs eventually 18.6.

What's your preferred hand placement on rifles and preferred forend attachment?
^ this question had me thinking 11" would be better to have for options on a different forend and more room potentially.
... but with that logic a 16.5 or 18.6 would have all room at 1.5lb heavier.

Cz usa lists all as 223/556 so it's most likely both.

I mean I prefer 11 inch's handguard but then again I have my NR ACR to do all the hand placement.........Might as well get the shortest rifle just for the sake of the biggest fireball

I had the same debate - I went with 11" as much more practical. Much easier to hide the flash, and better ballistic performance. I used to love the flamethrower short barrels, but while they're fun, they're so much less practical.

go with the 11" handles great. Kicking myself for puting a 18" on it. Might have to get another one :)

I agree, however consider we are in Canada the purpose of been "practical" is pretty impractical haha, but thanks for sharing! I am leanning on 11 too

I got to play with a full auto cz issue 11" overseas and I loved it so I ended up getting an 11" model. I think it basically just comes to aesthetics with the barrel lengths for restricted firearms, even if the 11" is ballistically superior.

I wanted an 11" so bad and almost pulled the trigger on it until I solidified an 8" from an ad here (waiting on transfer) for a price I couldn't say no to. The defining statement my brother gave me was "if you're going to go restricted, might as well go full restricted", meaning screw it, just go for the fun gun if you have others that fill other roles. It's all dependent on personal preference, and my C8, should it ever be brought back off the prohib list, will fill the moderate restricted length.

Just curious, is that a permanent swap? Not that you would want to as I know it is expensive for the work, could you have it swapped back and have it register as a restricted again?
