Bren 2 North Sylva Restricted Imports

so proprietary mag for 7.62x39 version and ar for the 5.56?

Yes, however reviews indicate that not all synthetic AR mags work correctly in the 5.56mm rifle/carbine. You are apparently best off to stick with metal magazines, either USGI or a major manufacturer such as CMP or ASC.

The lack of 7.62x39 is majorly disappointing. Though I have to wonder if it's simply due to the widely reported overgassing with this model, I imagine NS probably doesn't want another M10X debacle lol.

CZ is shipping what they have available to us in Canada, which at this time doesn’t include the 7.62x39 version for us currently. Spoke to the CZ rep for Canada and they are processing large military home orders and also diverting energies to the Ukraine conflict, like it or not we are but a small blip on their production radar.

Which could explain where all the 14" 5.56mm Rifles are currenty going, although CZ USA appears to have some capacity based on IRG's offerings. Anyhow, that certainly explains the lack of 7.62mm in all sizes if CZ is shipping product to Ukraine....

I confirmed that was existing inventory in the country and if you go to Gunbroker you can see how little inventory actually is available

That or hopefully right around the 16.5" cost. Good to see that CZ is willing to work with NS or the Canadian people and will be offering the NR variant. Same as the Scorpion.

Lol no shot. I keep telling people it's gonna be at least $3600. No one's going to custom make an NR barrel for less. Also, why would they cannibalize their 16 inch sales by making it similarly priced? Keep dreaming.

Restricted APC223 is $3999 and the NR is $4239, if the NR Bren is 240 more than the R I can live with it.

Here's a worthwhile YouTube video which explains the 5 (or 6) key differences between the military CZ Bren 2S versus what we are going to get - the Bren 2MS, with the "M" presumably standing in for "civilian" or "sporting". As iIshaco points out, the biggest difference between the two versions is that the 2S has Receiver Lightening Cuts, which the 2MS lacks. The next biggest difference is their respective Handguards. The simple 3-rails on the 2S attach with 3 screws per Rail for a total of 9. The 2MS Rail provides only 1 MLOK hole per Rail, vice 2 on the 2S. The 2MS Rails also attach with 5 screws apiece for a total of 15.

The remaining differences save one, are relatively minor - the 2MS has a scalloped top Picatinny Rail for weight savings, whereas the 2S does not. The 2S ships with Czech military metal mags, whereas the 2MS comes with 2 Polymer 5/30 CZ mags. The Cleaning Kits also differ with the the MS having a Green US-style Military kit versus an OTIS-style CZ kit with the 2MS. The 6th and final change concerns the 14" Barrel, which on the 2S has a Bayonet Lug that the civilian sporting 14" 2MS regrettably omits. The first two and the last change provide immediate visual cues that readily differentiate the military Bren 2S service rifle/carbine apart from the civilian Bren 2MS sporting rifle/carbine. That is a shame for "purist" collectors of military and military-style firearms, but may serve to save the Bren 2MS from the Canadian government's immediate ban-hammer. Ah, who am I kidding? "Military" features or not, the Bren 2MS will be squarely in Poly's #####y sights the very minute that it hits the market....
