Bren for re-enactments

'Evening Gents,

I have been on the hunt for a bren for quite a while. My thought is one that could be used in re-enactments, possibly a blank-firing convert. I'm not really sure about how difficult that would be, or what kind of paperwork would be involved, so any help that you could lend would be greatly appreciated.

Unless you have the proper "class" number on your PAL, you are probably out of luck for a firing one. Most of the Full Auto and Converted Auto guns that were registered have to be sold/traded with someone who has the same class number. If you sell your last one, then you can not buy another of the same class, and you lose the classification.

For Dewat Bren Guns, call Wolverine Sports in Virden, Mb. He has lots of them, in about the $600 range. Go to the dealer section of Gunnutz, and you will find them.

Looks like you're both right. I just got off the phone with the CFC and she told me that if you don't already have the 12(x) grandfathered licence then you would either have to be a production company or something of the like; and that they would have to hold a specific business licence for the piece.

Looks like ####-and-click and liberal blanks are the only option. "bang! bang! budgetcuts! - er i mean bang!"

Speaking of that, does anyone have any blank firing magazines? or a source? Have only been able to find ONE. There have to be more somewhere in Canada. I already have the Blank firing barrel. Would like to find two or three.
Blank mags have a shorter follower and a insert in front of it.

I don't know if this is an option, but there are beautifully made propane-firing guns down south of the border. I'm not saying you would be legally able to import it back up here (i don't know the laws on that), but what i am suggesting is that if you have the time, why not build one utilizing a currently deactivated gun?

Using gas such as propane (if you want the muzzle flash too), or CO2 (no ignition) will allow for a realistic firing action with parts still movable (if you are familiar with paintball gun actions). If you aren't familiar with such systems, you could probably even hollow out the bren receiver, and throw a semi or fully automatic paintball gun in there! Adapting it to run on propane that is (unless already designed to do so), and using some sort of igniter on the end to get that realistic flash.

Would be a very cool project!
