Thanks, does the man do good work or not eh?

He uses Parco Lubrite and follows the steps that were used back in the day, and you really can tell.

I,m going to be taking the bren to one of the shows in May and putting it up on display with big NOT FOR SALE DO NOT TOUCH signs all over the place. I,m sure though someone will try to touch or grab the damn thing. I'll make sure I have my lawyer on standby.

If you need some of your stuff done I'd give him a call or if you know someone else please refer them. I want to draw up some bussiness for him he does such good work.

I thought the gun might look better as well with some of that minty Bren wood from the UK. Carry handle, grip and buttstock are all new unused items. Got some blo and thinner then went to work on them.

What better for a mint park job then mint wood as well

Heres some very high resolution pics of the same shots (9megapixel) warning those with dialup might suffer a siezure or two.

Beauty.

I love the look.

I keep kicking myself, I almost bought a dewat Bren, complete transit chest, AA Tripod, etc when I was at Bisley a few years ago.

Serial number of that bren was A250. The 250th Bren MK I made.

NS

Holy ####e I'd give my aorta for number 250!!

Ya thats something to give you nightmares, but we all have stories of the ones that got away, thats why I drink.

So now I have a minty MKI and MKII deact/s.

Could use a MKIm but all of them seem to have been torch cut for some reason. I wonder why they cut them all?

MRCLARK:

While the wood does look great, did that gun not leave the factory with utility grade walnut? The brit wood is beech.

Also, didn't you have a line on repro AA butt grips?

Party pooper.:D

Ya I know the original stock was walnut and its actually sitting in my basement in all its chipped and cracked glory. I haven't had time to work on it to be honest as its in real rough shape. There is a huge chunk missing from the top of it

and it looks like crap. When I get time I,m going to try to fit in a piece and see how it looks. But I,m sure it will still look like crap thats why I went with the beech.

Heres some links to the repro handles.

http://www.thegunner.net/shop/2moracc.htm He sells one for 65 pounds I think

http://www.network54.com/Forum/73719/message/1091493061/Butt+grip+handles+FS and this one if not the same is for 75 but it is rumoured to be the best. But it comes to like 200 bucks US!!!!

I actually took your advice and went with the IMA one for around 50 bucks shipped

Its a little clean looking but I,m going to refinish it a bit to make it look the part.

There is a guy one this board actually selling what he claims to be a real one for the same price of the repro his name is ss109 I think

That's not too bad a chip - if you're careful and use a proper black walnut patch, it should be nearly invisible when you're done, or look for a replacement butt. Still a few Inglis walnut stocks out there if you look hard enough :)

Correct me if I'm wrong but can the C-A guns no longer be taken to the range? I've never had a chance to try a Bren but heard nothing but good about them.....very accurate from what I'm told.
