Bren Ten: The Most Tactical Pistol

Very cool. I enjoy his reviews of rare and interesting pieces.

And JTF#, it should 't be that hard to find 10mm brass up here (at least once fired). It seems 10mm is more prevalent in stores these days.

I owned one for a short time a couple of years ago after wanting one for years. After buying it I read of instances of casting porosity causing sudden and catastrophic frame failures so I sold it without shooting it. The slide was plum coloured and not well-fitted to the frame, too. I am still holding out hope that VLTOR will launch theirs some day. I'll literally be first in line to buy one.

I think the VLTOR version is stillborn, at least for now. Let's hope their QC is better than the later D&D versions!
I really liked the Bren 10 due to the two tone gun seen in the early Miami Vice episodes before Crockett switched to the S&W 645s.

its to bad you cant get brass from the US anymore.

I have had no problems buying Starline brass here, I just wish it wasn't priced like it was made of gold instead of brass.

Definitely a very neat pistol. Lots of stuff going on with it.

Always enjoy Ian's videos.

It is a very interesting pistol, too bad they never turned out as planned. I like Ian's stuff, too. Not sure what the snarkiness was about the "tactical" thing he had going on, that is out of character from the videos I have watched. He also missed the fact that you can switch the safety to the RH side for lefty use even though he went on about only RH shooters being tactical enough...

I purchased my first, of 4, Bren10 SM guns, from Mt Man Sports in Cranbrook, BC in 1985. They brought in 5 Bren10s. All had 2 mags which looking back was amazing that a little store in nowhere Canada received 5 guns, and 10 mags.

Now have my only pistol with unique serial # and 5 mags. My loads are the equivalent of a soft 40 SW to hopefully prevent any parts breakage. I actually shot this B10 at the last Soldier of Fortune 3 gun match in Vegas a lot of years ago at the Desert Sportsman range. Around 250 competitors and very hot out there. I picked up some spare parts from Tim Lafrance in San Diego back in about 1992ish, as he bought all of D&D's old stock. I'm told Tim passed away and his old stock was purchased by someone else.

I have to shoot some of the original Norma 170gr HP loads before I croak. When this gun first came to Canada those HP loads were prohibited from importation. I know doesn't make sense, but it was Canadian gun law, didn't have to.

That first B10 was serial 84SM01250 and I sold it around 1987/1988. So if you have that gun, that is the history of it. One of the first 5 B10 guns in Canada.

We actually had some of those - we sent our US distributor a few sheets of "for use in rifles only" stickers and they came through no problem.

it would be awesome to see a remake of this and the original Automag as had been planned

I can load some to thermonuclear level with 180gr bullets if you really want to try it out. I have an S&W 1006 and it isn't that overwhelming compared to heavy .44 Mag loads, but the fireball is pretty impressive indoors.

Too funny. Government bureaucrats, keeping us safe from fun forever.

+1. I would love to own a Bren 10 that had mags and functioned properly and try shooting an Automag someday.

I did that with the Delta and 1076 I used to have.

I don't want to run any super charge stuff through the B10, at least until I'm ready for my last days. Then everything I ever wanted to do, is goina happen.

Or until the NDP are in and sending out the confiscation letters.
