Bren Ten: The Most Tactical Pistol

I only have one question, fellas.

How on God's green earth did these guys manage to go bankrupt? Think about it: they had JEFF COOPER on their team - that alone should have guaranteed sales. Didn't one of the flimps on Miami Vice carry one? They were the only kids on that particular block with that particular cartridge. The snob and geek appeal of this gun goes right off the scale! Why did it fail?

I look at today's market and wonder if this couldn't get a second shot at life - what with the endless boutique shops like Les Baer, Ed Brown, etc etc.

Only my speculation here...
1. Lack of internet so few people knew of the gun and caliber
2. Power of the original 10mm loading made a lot of LE people stay away, hence the reduced FBI load later and the .40S&W
3. D&D were a small company compared to Colt, S&W, Ruger and Dan Wesson at the time. Even Dan Wesson ran into financial problems and look at Colt USA now
4. QC was terrible with many firearm related failures and issues
5. No mags
6. High cost of manufacture comparative to other companies
7. Colt came out with the Delta Elite
8. Gun was big and clunky for what it was made to do. ( Not designed as a silhouette or long range hunting gun)
9. Had too many features without the weight saving technology of today

Currently, it is an old tech gun. There are many 10mm offerings now that do way more than the Bren 10. However, for nostelgia collectors, it is a priceless piece of history! Jeff Cooper can't be wrong!

As far as bringing it back, VLTOR has the rights to the original design and have been promising to remake the classic. So far, only a promise....look at MasterG's post and click on the blue link.

Frig that was a fun match, place, events..... I still have that photo with you, me and the other Canucks with Robert K.

RK Brown was my hero when I was about 11 - I think I was the only 11 year old who read SOF cover to cover every month, didn't go down well with lefty teachers which made it all the more fun.

Him and Peter Kocilias (sp) were the dynamic duo of the day. There was always the machine gun demo at those SOF matches. Peter was the MC for that event. Those evenings were worth the price of admission. There were all sorts of things going on for the week during that shoot. Very fun.

IIRC, it's not (or wasn't at the time) generally recommended. I went with a Glock 20 and a Lone Wolf 10mm barrel so I could shoot "normal" 10mm loads and even some crazy stuff like the Buffalo Bore 220gr hard cast @ 1140fps b:

The new Sig 220 in 10mm is also supposed to be designed to handle "normal" 10mm loads, if you want to wait for it to hit Canadian dealers
Oh man, that Buffalo bore stuff is intense. I've never had an issue shooting the G20 with standard factory but that buffalo bore stuff is a little bit more exciting.
