I don't dare mention that I want some of these to prevent wilderness ursine human predation, except to put it that way.

Looking at the Brenneke home page, I see they have quite a selection of slug models in the hunting section. Assuming I can find a Canadian vendor that actually has them in stock, I'm wondering what people's thoughts are on those various models, not that I probably won't have to take what I can find. Also, what kind of price is fair here in the land of the 60 cent dollar?

Loook for Black Magic (Brenneke) slugs or Challenger slugs (Brenneke style, made in Canada) at Canadian Tire and elsewhere.
I bought a 5 pack of Black Magic slugs in Montana for $13.99 USD.

These Winchester Defenders look promising too, each shell contains 1 slug as well as 3 00 buckshot pellets.

Clearly importable with the usual correct permits, or so I'm told. I could see where the special 'tactical' armour piercing versions might not be let in, but otherwise they pose no extra danger, except to very large animals.
 
Wish I could remember who but a member here did a penetration test on various slugs a while back. Anyway, after seeing his results my money will be going to the challenger slugs from now on.
 
Here we are folks in the northern hemisphere, a nation with three big bear species (four if you count barren ground grizzly) and arguably the world's best sporting shotgun slug is virtually unavailable here, excluding tiny stashes.

Yet Brenneke USA, in a nation that virtually decimated all its bears out of lower 48 has a dearth of Brenneke everything. Alaska excluded.

I don't understand why the Exact slug replaced the Rotwiell Classic by RWS.

Wonders never cease.....

Interesting ... I wasn't aware ... that the Rottweil Brenneke Classic is not produced any more.

But the Rottweil Exact slug is a Gualandi slug as well .... as is the Challenger. So, it seems both companies (Rottweil and Challenger) have decided to use Gualandi slugs for their ammo .... and the Gualandi slugs are solid performers when it comes to penetration ...

I can't find Brenneke's anywhere around here. I seen that test of slugs, and will be picking up a couple boxes of Challengers as well.
