Brenneke Black Magic???

They make it here from time to time. Not approved by nrcan but honestly who the heck cares?

"They make it here from time to time."

Can you explain this a bit more? I have been searching for Black Magic Brennekes for years ... and the only option I found is to import them ... and with the cost associated with importing ammunition from the US ....

Who is selling Black Magic Brennekes in Canada?

At the moment no one I know of. However, guys drive down to the US and bring back ammo fairly regularly. Stuff gets put in commercial imports incorrectly or mislabeled and ends up at retail. When I see rare stuff I usually buy everything on the shelf or the gun show table, so I have about a half case of black magics.

I have some and the Brenneke classics, they work very well on deer and bears.

Yep , i have about 100 rounds of Rotweil Brenneke 3 inch mags left and a couple of hundred Rio 3 inch mags . They both shoot 5 shot groups of 4 to 5 inches at 100 yards from my 14 inch 870 and Benneli M4 . Both kill bears like the hammer of God and both penetrate the same , often straight through . I'd stay away from the USA Brenneke Black Magic because of so many reports of them not going off after they get wet . Most guides and back country trekkers in Alaska gave up on them several years ago . I know of a guy who put 10 in his sink and sprayed them for about 1 minute to simulate pouring rain . Not one fired . I know of another guy who put his shotgun in the canoe and then shoved off and immediately rolled his canoe in 3 feet of water . He hauled his gear to shore then the canoe and then went out to get his shotgun that had been under water for 2 minutes . He ran into a bad situation with a grizz on a portage and the shotgun went click instead of bang . He killed the grizz with his 9 mm pistol . Not one of his Black Magics would fire .

I'd only be excited if the Brenneke Special Forces Maximum Barrier Penetration Magnum{!!!} or the like was available.

Otherwise the Federal Deep Penetrator or any of several companies offering a Gualandi slug, are at least as good as a regular Brenneke slug IMO.

And according to you .... what slug that is available in Canada would have better penetration?
Feel like sharing ....

The Rio Royals are Brenneke slugs loaded in Spain marked Brenneke on the slug @1410fps. I got 3 touching at 50 yards from my 20" smoothbore Ithaca Deerslayer. These aren't generic same lead + wad.

Hmmmm ....so Black Magic slugs are not approved for retail sale in Canada ... but you are saying that people import them illegally ... and sell them any way .... illegally???

However you want to look at it. It’s not illegal to import ammo. The nrcan list is ridiculous because there are thousands of types of ammo that were imported legally and aren’t on the list anymore. Technically it has to be on the list to be imported, sold, used, or even possessed. If you go by that standard then dozens of people at every gun show are selling ammunition illegally.

I doubt anyone is turning in their imperial 22LR.
