All: I am kitting up a 590SP as a bear gun. Is there anybody I can order 12 guage, 2 3/4 or 3" hardened Brenneke slugs from?

are you talking about the 600 grainers? 3"?
I have no idea if they are hardened but I've tried them. they run @ 2$ a pop, so 10 CDN for a box. They hurt. The shotgun kills at both ends.
I got a few and I have a buddy who likes them. For me, though, the 410 brenneke is more of a fascination.

I can only use non-sabot 12g slugs as I have a smooth bore.

Where did the Brenneke slugs come from?

I am still looking for a Canadian mail order source for hardened slugs.

Thanks!

the Brennes

The Slugs came from US of A. Cabela's.
They used to ship to Canuckistan.
Nowadays I only get them when I go there hunting.
The 3" ones are 600gr, the 2-3/4s are 400 gr.
THEY HURT.

An alternative if the Wolf ammo. While not a reputable and "trusted" , the Wolf slugs have the same basic principle and design. Wolf is a Russian company, but its slugs are made in Germany. Good overall performance @ one third the price.

One bad thing : the ruskies don't have 600 grainers. For your 18" bbl. 5.5 lb shotgun that is. If you want to shoot a second shot you better train to do it from both shoulders. One shot for each :D

RIO loads Brenneke slugs and their ammo is inexpensive. Have your local dealer order them thriough Bell Distr.
