Has anyone had experience with these slugs? I'm looking to setup a deer gun for the fall and wanted to get started now. I was thinking of using an 11-87 semi with Brenneke Slugs for maximum distance.

If you have any thoughts or feedback it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I have used these slugs in my Rem 870 smooth bore and they were great, accurate with knock down power.I shot deer and black bear.Use the 2 3/4 "

IMHO, the advantage of the Brenneke slug is terminal performance, rather than extending the reach of a smooth bore gun. If maximum range is an important criteria, you should consider a rifled bore, choose a gun with a fixed barrel, and select a slug that is more suitable for long range (200 yards?) performance.

Brenneke and Challenger slugs are full size lead projectiles, considered to be better 'stoppers' (harder alloy for superior penetration) than foster type slugs. These more common foster type, are usually made of softer lead. The Brenneke /Challenger, tend to be better performers on moose & bears close up.

Sabot slugs tend to be a design made for flatter shooting of deer-like critters, perhaps at a distance longer than one would use regular foster slugs or Brenneke type. As a general rule, sabot slugs are designed for fully rifled shotgun barrels too. Unlike the others.

I've been looking to purchase some of these slugs for quite a while but I can't find any dealer in Canada that stocks them. I would like to find the type as pictured in the enclosed photo

Those are the slugs that I use in my Mossberg with a rifled barrel.
I also use them in a Browning smoothbore.
Really like them.
On the box, they are marked ''For smoothbore or rifled barrel''.
I buy mine in New York State, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, at
####'s Sporting Goods.
Not all of their stores carry them.
Good luck.

I had them as they were like $2.00 bucks a box when my dad picked up a bunch, didn't group well in my 835 Rifled Barrel. I have not tried shooting them out of my SX3 yet but will when I get a chance.
