ANYONE USE BRILEY chamber inserts for their shotgun how do they work? or should a guy just as well go for the tubes? And if they are any good? Who is a Briley dealer in Canada?
Thanks Tony

No Briley dealer that I know of in Canada and likely a pain to get your gun to the U.S. to have the full length tubes done.

With the Briley chamber inserts your looking at the same export / import issues to get them out of the U.S. into Canada.

1 - Lawry Shooting Sports, Caledonia Ontario, is a Briley Dealer.
2 - You can buy the chamber mates or briley inserts on Ebay.
3- Or you can order the champion full length tubes right from the Briley web site with very little effort. I know people who've done it, and they fit any O/U because of the design, no fitting needed, and no need to send your gun anywhere.;)

The Briley Chamber inserts are " O.K. " for occassional recreational use.

If you are going to shoot the small gauges in any quantity or competitively, tubes are the way to go.

Call Lawry's ... speak to Rick ... I'm sure he can set you straight.

I agree. I had a a 12 to 28 set of Seminole Chambermates and they worked well enough provided I used premium ammo (Winchester AA, Remington STS or Federal Gold Medal Taget). Other brands such as Kent or Challenger wouldn't eject properly. I would also get a hollow sounding report occasionally which I assume meant the wad didn't seal properly.

The main advantage of the chamber inserts is that they don't change the gun weight appreciably unlike full length tubes which put more weight into the barrels. But were I getting into subgauge skeet I'd opt for a tube set.

Thanks Guys I was thinking on the inserts so that my wife would be able to shoot my beretta in 20 gauge , she likes the o/u but its too hard on her so I thought that might be a good inexpensive route to go.

Get her a Beretta A391 Parallel Target RL in 12ga. ... very suitable for the ladies, and cycles 7/8 oz. loads ( same payload as the 20 ga. ) "no problemo" - a very comfortable gun to shoot with next to nil recoil - likely far less felt or perceived recoil than with a "tubed' O/U. You really want to get her involved in shooting ??? - then get her her own gun ... quit tryin' to pawn your ol' stuff off on her.

12 ga. - 7/8oz. target loads should then do the trick. If that's still not comfortable for her, then I would suspect it's a gun fit issue ... which 20
gauge tubes/20 ga. loads will not likely correct the "recoil" issue, other tahn add some 14 oz. of weight to the gun.

I picked up a set of Browning inserts which let you fire a 28ga in a 12 (they have a bunch of others including 20ga).

They work and pattern great for recreational purposes (I wouldn't compete with them, but I know people who have).

I think they retail for about $50CAD and might be easier to find than the Briley's.

Brad.
