This is a fun match with an interesting course of fire.
You will need a license to be in possession of the rifle(s) you bring. If you bring guests (your kids or spouse, for example) they do not need a license.
Any rifle and any caliber (except rimfire) is welcome.
223 or 5.56 is the preferred caliber because of noise concerns of the neighbours. We shoot about 130 rounds per person, per day, so 223 is also cheaper to shoot.
You do not have to use the same rifle at all ranges. You could shoot a SKS at 100, a AR-15 at 200 and your 270 hunting rifle at 300.
We shoot at 100, 200 and 300 yards. Each distance starts with a zeroing exercise. You can adjust your sights, if they are easily adjustable, or discover how much high or low to aim at each distance.
100 is shot standing. (Newbies can shoot prone.) 200 and 300 is shot prone, with the rifle rested on a shooting bag, if you like.
Entry fee is $20. Non members of the ORA pay an additional $35 guest fee to cover insurance and the cost of range staff. (We require 5 paid staff to use the range, for Beach Patrol, Range Warden and range officer.)
