I read on threads and sites that you cannot bring a Canadian Tavor to the US with a form 6.

Can't find anything on the ATF official site neither

Does that has changed? They are all older sites posts and forum threads.

I do not understand why it could not be temporarily imported to the US since Israel is a friendly country of the US and the barrel is over 16 inches.

And I really wanted a Tavor :(

So, you could bring down a Chinese short barrelled Grizzly mag fed shotgun, as long as it came back with you? How long is 'temporary?

No, Chinese would be banned and less then 18" is a short barreled shotgun which is a 200$ tax stamp NFA item. So that's a double no. Temporarily is one year the permit is valid for.

My friend put it on his form of 6NIA last year.
They requested pictures of both sides of the rifle.
It was approved.
This year they initially denied it and he wrote them back that it was approved the previous year and he included a copy of the previous documentation.
It was returned approved wit a stamp across the bottom of the page no full auto firearms.
If you need more info you can PM Rugerblast.

I know this is a necro thread.....but I felt it was better than starting a new one.

This morning I received an email from ATF telling me that my Tavor was declined on my Form 6NIA......even if I had supplied them with a picture, to show that the rifle was semi-auto only :(

I am just curious to know why some people can be granted the permit and not myself......

I have emailed back to see why it was refused.........not a happy puppy :(

I requested to have an explanation, and was told that the Firearms Technology Industry Services Branch had decided that Tavors made in Israel would not be granted authorization to be temporarily imported in the US anymore.

Something changed. Mine used to be approved, but it was declined this month. I sent them my old approved forms, but no go. I requested further explanation from a tech, still waiting for that.

Is there a list somewhere of the manufacturing countries that are banned from importing/temp importing guns to the US? I have tried to google it but I seem to only find gun control websites thanks to Google's social engineering agenda....pfft

Another interesting thing is that both our Tavor X95's and the IWI US made Tavor X95's have a "Made in Israel" stamp on the barrel.

I believe they're all made in Isreal but US models are assembled, or "made" in the USA.

i usually place over 20 guns on my form6. i know some wont fly but i place them on there. if one gets rejected, i just resend the same form and hope some less diligent ATF member stamps the form.

funny thing, i had one form deny my homemade AR15 (registered), resent the same form a week later, and the homemade ar15 was accepted, but another gun on the same form was denied.

I always thought temporary import was dependant on country of manufacture. US = OK, any other country, not OK.

I've always wondered how the process works for optics? Does form 6NIA extend to optics as well?

Great just great - if the Americans have decided that it's built on a full auto receiver what do you think the next step for RCMP lab boys will be.

It doesn't mean anything. Lots of things classified by the ATF as semi auto ( SCAR, ARX100) are considered converted auto by the RCMP.

They do different things so they don't matter to one another. Canada must do something different from the US - it is always the case with the Liberals government. LOL.
