Any legal issues with picking up stock, shell holder, tact light stuff like this for my new shotgun from the states or ordering from amazon? Thanks

Accessories are not controlled for export but firearm parts are. Stocks are considered firearm parts. If you mean a side saddle when you say shell holder, it is probably OK - but it might not be. If you're talking a belt or a bandoleer, no problem at all since it doesn't attach to the firearm. A tactical light attachment is probably controlled and probably needs an export permit. There really is no clear cut list anywhere on what is and what isn't controlled.

If you know exactly what you want, you should contact the US Dept of State Directorate of Defence Trade Controls and/or the US Dept of Commerce (DofC controls Shotguns, DOS controls handguns and rifles) and ask them.

If you order from Brownells, they'll be able to reliably tell you what can and cannot be exported out of the US. Don't mistakenly think that because Brownells can export something to you, that you can go to the US and take it back with you. Brownells has their export paperwork in order whereas you are not (I presume) a licensed exporter and you therefore cannot take any firearm part out of the US by yourself.

Some accessories you can export from the US yourself. Some firearm parts and accessories can be exported from the US by licensed exporter such as Brownells. Some firearm parts cannot be exported from the US by anyone because the manufacturer is not registered and that is needed as well if the parts are to leave the US.

If you think the Canadian bureaucracy is convoluted, the US brings it to a whole higher level.

MOST firearms related parts are controlled by the US State Department. Anything from 10 dollar grip scales for a 1911 to 300 dollar rail systems. But not all things are.

In any case, in order to ship gun parts outside of the USA you need a US State Department export license.

I had brownells cancel an order of 20 dollar Falcon Industries ERGO grips because they (Falcon) had let their export registration lapse. On the other hand, the 250 dollar Volquartsen rail system for my Ruger MarkIII 22/45 wasn't considered a firearms component.

Things that are directly related to a firearm (stocks, grips etc..) will almost always be state department regulated. STuff like shell holders may not be.

Check out Tactical Shotgunner, as they have an export permit, and will ship a bunch of stuff to Canada as well as Brownells. (always gotten the same US State Department paperwork when ordering from both)

I ordered a side saddle off of ebay and the US seller ships to Canada, UK, and Oz.
Hopefully there isn't a long hold at the border, but I'm guessing it isn't one of the items that is controlled, or the seller probably wouldn't bother shipping outside of the US.

tried buying one locally, but nobody had them in stock... and a guy at basspro didn't even know what the hell a tac-star side saddle was. lol

I may be using my pockets for shells for a little while longer.
