Brinks Changing to autos??

Any news from the West or is this still Ontario?

Not sure about other provinces, sorry. My job takes me into plenty of banks and places Brinks also attends. New Years day, actually, I got called out to open an ATM. Brinks tried to open it, it wouldn't open. For some reason beyond my comprehension, it *HAD* to be open that night. I was chatting with the two guys from Binks, and they started to talk about how the older one was traveling to some location in Ontario next week to train on "the new gun". I asked, and he said they were training on the "Smith & Wesson fourty"... I asked what model he said "Fourty".... So I thought for a second, and I said "You mean the M&P?" and he said "Yeah, that's it".

Shots fired?

When was the last time an armed guard fired a shot on the job in Canada?

Saw a bulletin at work earlier this year about a perp getting shot in Quebec.
Have seen several training videos where shots were fired.
Securicor going to M&P .40 smiths (eventually).

Cheers

I should clarify, what I meant was the guy I was talking to was DOING the training. Not TAKING it. He claimed to be the instructor for this area.

Also, if you do a google search you'll come up with several threads on blueline.ca mentioning the change. So its pretty much confirmed in Ontario.

Please don't think my question had any meaning other that a simple question. I was simply curious to hear the answer.

When the Cocaine Bandit was active in Winnipeg, he got into multiple shoot outs with armored car guards. He wounded one of them and was also wounded by them on one occasion. This was when they were still using revolvers. He mostly used Rem 870's which he cut down after stealing them from gun shops at gun point.

THE YULETIDE BANDIT: A SEVEN-YEAR SEARCH FOR A SERIAL CRIMINAL (2004)

Winnipeg police dubbed Michael Syrnyk “The Yuletide Bandit” following a series of dramatic, daylight Christmastime robberies in 1998, 1999 and 2000 that left citizens fearing for their safety and police searching for an apparent psychopath. One of Syrnyk’s most notorious shoot-outs occurred during a December 2000 robbery outside Polo Park Shopping Centre, Winnipeg’s busiest mall. Dozens of Christmas shoppers - including senior citizens - dove for cover as bullets flew and glass shattered.

Last summer G4S came to our range for training. Among the NUMEROUS boxes of .38, slugs and buckshot, was a few boxes of Speer Golddot .40S&W. No idea if it came from an instructor, supervisor, or just to give a test drive to the guards, but they for sure did not come from a civilian.

Brinks is in the process of switching over to MP40's

London and Toronto are the last two branches to be retrained for the semi's

'Rumor' has it they are to be switched over in Ontario by the end of this year.

May I ask where is that range!

Where are you from? Are you talking about G4S???
When they come to our store, they still have wheelguns. I've been wondering for quite some time who carried the G22s that are listed for our region on the '' criminal internet shopping list''
