British 303 Lee enfield

Since they haven't been made for decades, they can't really be a regular stock item, but any gun dealer that deals in second hand guns may have one or more (or none) at any time.

I don't I've ever stepped foot in a shop that didn't have at least 1 Enfield on the shelf.

It's that way until you're looking for one, then suddenly they're nowhere to be found. A friend was looking for one and I took him to a local gunshop that used to always have a few. Suddenly there weren't any. I felt foolish after assuring him 'oh ya, these guys will have one for you'. I'm sure once he's no longer looking they'll have at least 3 again

last time i read the news, it's said that the DOD is swapping the old Lee Enfield now equipped by the North Pole militia with something else....... so um...... maybe those guns will be on sale very soon?

Canadian military surplus firearms go to the smelter - there is no stewardship towards the public purse when it comes to disposal of surplus Canadian military firearms and ammo.

"...maybe those guns will be on sale..." Not a chance. All of the No. 4's and No. 7's cadet Corps held were destroyed. Any returned by the Rangers will be too. Government policy regardless of what Party is in power.
"...no stewardship towards the public purse..." A very polite way of saying it too.
Rummage around the forum sponor sites. Wouldn't pay $450 for any Lee-Enfield myself though. Mind you, it's a sign that my retirement fund is getting big. I never paid more than $50 for any Lee-Enfield and they were in far better condition, except for headspace, then.

is that what Enfields are going for these days?

Not really. Collector's Source is well-known in the surplus market for being just a liiiiiitle over-priced.

It's a good site to point people towards to see interesting guns, though, because they've always got a bunch of stuff to look at. This is because they don't sell in a hurry at those prices!

Stay away from the collectors source pricing! It is frabernacking ridiculous. Try Epps if you don't mind mail order, they usually have a couple listed at a decent price. Really nice ones crop up at Marstar once in a blue moon, but you'd better be on the ball to get one

I recently purchased 2 Parker Hales in 303 and a Churchill for $300.00. All were in good to excellent shape. I expect they will clean up to very good or excellent. This was at a gun shop in the interior of B.C. Apparently guys with the WSM bug trade them off from time to time. The market for sporter 303 rifles - even nice Parler Hale ones is very soft in rural hunting Canada.

Same as the Browning Hi-Power pistols many made by Inglis IIRC, such a shame.
There have been reports about those pistols being so worn out as undesirable, but I doubt those reports are fully comprensive of inventory.

Check your local buy and sell classifieds. That's where I found mine here in PG for $200. It's been sporterized, but for the price I got a decent rifle that I'm planning on using for hunting if I get my act together to get my CORE....

Everytime I look in the classifieds there is at least one in the area so maybe you'll have the same where you are.

Yep, I got three of them this year. The not too pretty ones can often be had (even at gun shows!) for $80-90 if you ask real nice. Got two 1917 Lithgows and a P14, which cost just a few dollars more. Shoots like a dream though.
