British Cartridge Guage Box made by PB & Co LTD 1939.

Good day, I came across this box in a friends gun shop and as per the inset chart, held guages for 4 specified firearms.. So I've been told it was an British armourers box. Obviously I gather the 1939 is date of manufacture by PB& Co Ltd. But was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on the crown stampings as well as a description of the box and possibly a value.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. I have included a few photos, the dimensions of the box are: 16"x9 "x3 1/4"

I have a almost identical box, with the screws on the lid ( which I assumed were later additions, but maybe not) and slightly different latches.
However mine is commercial, and dates to about 1870 -1880.
Even the wood grain is similar.

btt- Thanx for the input oldstarfire, very interesting to see the range of manufacture. Anyhone else have any info they could share? Thanx!

You are looking an inspectors stamp, Geo crown? over ( inspector) M2 over ( Enfield factory) E .
Look up and you can narrow down stamp's date. Possible different from 1939 on box.
A very nice wood case!
