Hi Folks, I would like to build a L129 clone and need some input. The ultimate starting point would be a LMT 16" barrel rifle but these seem difficult to find and of course are restricted (not that this is a real problem for me).

I am thinking of starting with one of the Stag 10 18.75' barrel versions and then slowly adding the bits and pieces necessary such as a 6x48 acog, correct furniture etc.

Any thoughts and suggestions as to how to proceed and where to get the bits and pieces I would need?

Thanks!

You can order a factory LMT "civilian" L129 off Questar. It is the same thing other than that the factory gun has the most up to date bolt upgrade and of course no UK markings. It is not cheap but it is basically the same thing purchased by the UK.

I am not sure you can build a "clone" off a stag 10. It is like trying to dress up a deer as a moose....just because they both have 4 legs! The only thing you can put pm a STAG that is the same as the L129 is the stock and the surefire FS.

Definitely you won't have a clone. Too many differences in the receiver and upper. Forward assist being the most obvious feature difference. However you can build somewhat of a facsimile using a Stag10 that will be cheaper, non-restricted, and maybe just as accurate depending on the barrel you go with.
