British L1A1s in Canada

Picked up a Brit from Century back in about 92 for $200. Had to pick it up at the cop shop. About 3 different serial numbers on the thing. Has that black finish that looks like paint. All I can say about the thing is that I’ve taken it out to 600 yds, iron sights, and it hit the bull every time. THAT is what makes it so frustrating now that it has to be locked in my safe. She’s a mutt, but she’s a beauty and a damn straight shooter!

If they are ever legalized, I would be interested in getting one and setting it up like a C1A1.

I got my L1A1 back in the day when they were legal...and it's been a safe queen for a long time. I was able to find enough C1A1 parts to trick mine out to the point it's virtually identical to a C1A1. Yeah, they were fine old guns...rather heavy and the recoil could be harsh, but they were reliable and powerful. My militia regiment switched over to the C7 shortly after I left, so all my training and activities were with the C1. There's no sensible reason for them to be prohibs, except that a lot of people were interesting in having them...usually British or Aussie versions [I think the Aussies were phasing them out, and scuttlebutt was that the RCMP didn't want Canadian bike gangs, or FN radicals buying them up.]

Anyhow...mine has matching upper and lower S/Ns, and I think the Brit bolt carrier was blued, or maybe parkerized. The Canadian carrier is.

I love FALs!!! Sadly too young to have ever been given the change to legally own one :(

I would love to own one as well, but because of our ridiculous laws will not be that lucky.
OTH why are the people that own them not allowed to take them to the range and shoot them, are they so much more dangerous than an M1 Garand?
Stupid law.
