British Property Tags

I'm trying to get a little information on a couple items I have. When I was in my early teens we were cleaning out my uncles' house as they were moving into an apartment. My uncle gave me some of his military items he no longer wanted. My uncle was a Royal Canadian Dragoon during WW2. At the time I wasn't really into collecting like I am now. I do know what most of the pieces are but have two that I can't find anything out about.

They are brass property tags. They are oval, about the size of US dog tags. There is a hole in either end for screws to go through. Each one says "Property of His Majesty the King". My uncle told me at the time that they came off of guns he used in WW2. He has since past and I never found out what kind of guns. Have any of you ever seen these or know what they belong to? I tried to take a picture but it doesn't turn out.

Likely the ID plates that went on the stocks of No. 4 rifles, etc. Usually had a unit ID on them, but not always. They're a nice momento of your uncle's service.

Don't think so. Stock discs have ONE hole in the centre. More like something put on other equipment. Even so, I wonder at the wording. Might be something put on cavalry saddles.
