I know these rifles are small ring M98s, but does anyone know their length? Is it a standard or intemediate length action? If anyone has any links or other intersting info, I'd be happy to hear from you.:)

While I don't have first hand information, as far as I've been able to find out, they are small ring, full length actions(same length as a 98). I came to this conclusion based on comments on other forums.

Try http://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve and do a search on "21H length"

Thanks Mauser98. I am trying to figure out which, if any, "off the shelf" M98 stocks would work on one. I think I may have to go to a custom inlet.

I think the standard M98 stocks would be oversized at the front action ring. (something like 1.4 vs 1.3") If you're thinking of wood, I believe getting stocks that are inletted shouldn't be that much trouble. I'd look into the physical difference between them (Brno) and the swede small ring actions for a stock fit.

Kristian, let me know what to measure up on mine and I can relay the info to you. I think a 30-06 length round will fit easily in the mag well. I have seen two that started life as 7x57's and both ended up in a couple variations being 7 gibbs and a 280 imp. They didn't look to be modified mag wise anyway.

I agree.

I'm in the process of inletting a Swede and a 98 into a couple of semi-inletted stocks. When I take the 98 with an inletting guide screw installed in the rear tang and place it in the Swede stock it become obvious that it would be very easy to adapt the Swede stock to a 98. The 98 is longer to the front so the front guard screw hole, lug mortise and the receiver ring inletting could be moved forward. The original guard screw hole and lug mortise would have to be filled.

Of course, if the external dimensions of the 21H and the Swede are not the same, all bets are off.

I just talked to a fellow at the Great American Gunstock Company and he said no problem, they can inlet for M98 small ring. I am going to call MPI as well, and see what they say. Thanks for the info; the 21H isn't very common and finding info is not so easy.
