plus the fact there were very few options for rifles with the better features, especially from the Euro marketBRNO 602's and CZ 550 magnums in the hands of professional hunters in Africa than all other makes combined. The reason being the fantastic quality, ruggedness, features and reliability of action you get for the price,
Ones that the average PH could afford for sure, at least when starting-out. The Winchester Model 70 being the other real contender in the affordable class, but more preferred BRNO/CZ.plus the fact there were very few options for rifles with the better features, especially from the Euro market
That is what I heard from people that have them, saying that the 602 is more suited for big “400” than the 375’sThe downside of the 602s is that they are overly heavy for a 375 magnum. I much preferred my M700 in a fiberglass stock over the 602.
I bought a pre-64 (1949) model 70 recently for $900. A bit of bluing wear, but no rust/putting/gouges. Awesome bore. $900 for that sort of quality compared to what you can get new for $900 nowadays is crazy. It's amazing that Turkish plastic rifles are $1500 new and blue, machined steel like a 602 are $1200 used.
Nice rifle nice wood, Bavarian hog back style stock are not the favorite of many, they tend to hit you in the cheek bone on heavy recoiling rifles. But I like them myself! For the right price this will go quick! Ask more and go down every few weeks! I would definitely start above $1500 that is for sure! Here are pics.View attachment 1151102
