So i am looking very seriously into buying a k98 from another cgnr. and have some questions about the BRNO K98s. i know that the czechs did keep making them post war but did they make them for nazi germany during the war? it is marked with BYF on the butt plate so i am guessing thats a good sign! i am really just looking to see if it was in the wartime dates as that is what i need for my collection,

If it is a K98K made in the Reich Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, the receiver ring will have a manufacturer's code and date. BYF on the buttplate tells you that was where the buttplate was made.

I've looked at a literal F ton of k98k, and have not seen a byf on the Buttplate. I'd be suspicious.

Brno made rifles for the nazis under the codes dot and dou, Brunn I and Brunn II.

They continued after the war making them for themselves, export etc
