Has anyone had any success in sourcing a set of BRNO Aperture Match Sights and installing them onto a CZ455 Lux.
If yes, where did you source them from and how difficult was the install?

I likely need to get my eyes checked out and a pair of glasses, but in the mean time I heard that the BRNO Match Sights are better suited for someone with less than perfect eyesight when compared to the stock sights found on the 455 Lux.

Thanks,
Fivehundred

Convert your 455 to the new tangent sight kit its just like the 452 sights. Then you can use a J&P aperture conversion on the rear sight and have the best of both worlds.I have the J&P peep conversion on one of my 452 shoots great.

Thanks Ronnie,
Those J&P sights look like the ticket. Only problem it looks like the tangent upgrade kit needs a gunsmith to install it, so I'm guessing drilling and tapping is required. But I will continue to research it.

Did you find the J&P sight easier to use? Ie better for aging eyes?

There is no gunsmith work at all it is just a normal bolt on.I have one for my 455 and it bolts on where the 455 ramp was using screws supplied in the kit.
I'm not sure why the gunsmith statement Can you change a light bulb "LOL" Its a 20 min task. Taking your old style off is more difficult as a loctite glue bonds it on as well as the screws.A heat gun will aid you in removing the ramp. Yes the J&P inserts are the ticket.

That sounds easy enough, I was worried about drilling.

Two more questions:

Where did you findthe upgrade kit for sale and what kinda price? I'm assuming I can order the J&P sights direct from their website and the price looks reasonable.

Did you have to get a taller or shorter front blade sight or did it work with the stock front blade?

I bought a BRNO front & rear aperture set for my 455 from "Brnoman" Denny, he's on rimfirecentral and some other big forums (PM me if you want his email instead), and ships to Canada. Net price was about $120
He also has a selection of different front aperture blades for cheap, get that while you're at it!
Comes with everything you need except for a zany screwdriver for the front sight. (Dremel an old flathead to make one yourself)

However, DANG, that tangent set looks appealing! I might just ditch the brno and get those.

Thanks for the link Ronnie, I couldn't find it on their site. My next problem would be finding a way of importing it into Canada.

Thanks Scott, from my research I had done it appeared as though the front aprature won't fit onto the 455s. Any chance you could post some pictures of how the front apreture fits on? Also how long ago did you buy your sights from Denny?

Did your original front sight ramp attach with a screw to the barrel?

Here is what the 455 cz conversion front sight looks like.

I have a 455 FS, so it has a Lux barrel and came with a ramp pre-installed. The BRNO kit's front aperture uses/comes with a screw, nut and angled ramp, and uses the same slot&ramp as the factory front blade. No modifications needed. :)
I'll try to get pics tonight. (but I bet rimfirecentral has loads of threads... it's a popular accessory in the USA)
I bought it in late 2012 if memory serves.

Thanks for the pictures Ronnie.

I had contacted Denny 5 months ago and he had mentioned that there was two types of front ramps on the 455's. The early versions would accept the BRNO front globe, but the later version wouldn't although he was working on a fix so it would fit. I sent him pictures of my front ramp but never heard back. I tried to research myself and I think the one one my lux is the newer front ramp because it is held on by a screw. But when I look at the pics uploaded by Ronnie, I don't see that screw present on the front ramp. So I am now wondering if mine won't accept the tangent sight upgrade either.
But after looking on rimfire central, I did find some people saying the BRNO sights will fit the 455 without problem. So if you could take some pics of the front ramp and globe setup, I would appreciate it Scott.

My front blade slides into a groove machined into the ramp, with a set-screw in front of the blade itself for security. Not sure how the ramp itself is attached to the barrel, since that part doesn't need modification.

I didn't have time to install it all for you, but I got some pics of the BRNO ramp/screw/nut combo that slides in where the blade goes, turning your into a square assembly. (like this)

EDIT: pretty sure Ronnie's shot is specifically the 455 Trainer's front sight, not the Lux/FS one. It's part of the upgrade kit, see the picture: https://shop.cz-usa.com/images/items/Fullsize/5073020001.png
I suspect that's what Denny is talking about too since as far as I know, the 455 Lux/FS have only ever had one type of front sight.

Thanks Scott,
That looks identical to my front ramp, I think.

And this is the screw that holds my front ramp to the barrel.

Does this look the same as yours? I was almost positive I had the newer style that the BRNO Match sights won't fit onto. But after seeing your setup, I think they might fit on mine.

I bought a cz match sight that came with a set of clear front inserts and a peep that fits where the rear sight insert goes. I had the Brno sights on my 452 fullstock but I have a cz 452 ultra lux with the over 28 inch barrel on hold that would be the ideal set up. The fullstock will wear a new Weaver 3x9 with a.o. for plinking and small game.BTW the match sights can be installed in minutes and are almost as accurate as a scope. At 20 yards I shoot 1 hole groups with both , at 50 not as good due to tired eyes.Check out the weaver 3x9 with a,o. Great rimfire scope and Japanese made.

Thanks Ronald, that's the kind of accuraccy I was hoping for at 25 yards and hoping to stretch it out to 50 yards accurately.

I think you might be right then Scott about the 455 only having the one type of front sight cause I can't find any reference on the net to a different one.
Were you considering selling you set? Haha jj. Denny must be away as I haven't been able to get a hold of him, unless he got a new email address.
