I have a Brno Model 2 enroute and I have a couple questions.

I've previously owned Brno Models 1 and 4...which trigger style does the Model 2 have??...the old '98 Mauser style like the Model 1, or the Win 70 style like the Model 4?...I'm hoping it's like the Model 4...:)

And I have a #4 and #5 :D

Here's some info on the various models...

** Model 1: .22 LR, 22.75 in barrel, 3-leaf (tri-leaf) sight, 5 shot lip mag., checkered pistol, 6lbs, mfg. 1946-1957. (many have 2 way
adjustable triggers, but not all. Safety is similar but slightly different to modern ZKM-452's)

** Model 2: similar to model 1, with checkered deluxe walnut stock.

** Model 3: .22 LR, target rifle model with 27.5" heavy barrel, adj click target sights, 5 shot clip mag, plain target style stock with
large swivel mounts, 9.5 lbs. Mfg. 1949-1956 (adjustable triggers) (I have never seen one of these yet)

** Model 4: similar to Model 3, except has improved trigger design & safety. Mfg. 1957-1973

** Model 5: similar to Model 1, except has the improved trigger design & safety. Mfg. 1957-1973.

...thanks guys...so it looks like the Model 2 will have the same trigger as the Model 1.....I was hoping it would have the Model 4 type trigger....

If that's what you want then you should consider looking at a #5.

...and sell me your #2 :D

Model 2 trigger

I have a 1948-vintage Model 1, a 1958-vintage Model 4 and a late model 452. The M4 and M452 have the same adjustable triggers while the M1 has a different, non-adjustable trigger.

Is yours an old Model 2, or the recent Model 452?

That #5 is not longer available. I own it...great little rifle, loves
power points and had a 400 gopher weekend.

Yeah, they don't update that site very often so it's hard to know what's still available.

You probably got a better deal then me. $369 is a lot less then the $519 I paid at Epps. I was kind of kicking my ass over that.

The $ 369.00 was quit a bit under book value for them. They are rare,
and one of the best Brno ever made, incorporating the #4 Trigger and
action. I haven't shot all ammo yet, but it just might outshoot my 452.
We will see. Best part of the buy was the little scope with it. Fine
cross hairs only...perfect for me and quit clear. Have no idea on the
make but would recommend them if I did...and I am fussy.

I can't see my other Brno's being much better then my varmint. In fact I took out my Brno 452 Varmint for the first time recently. The gun is completely stock with a Tasco 6-24x50mm AO scope and I used RWS standard velocity ammo. I also had a rest that wasn't perfectly solid but seemed to do more or less ok with it. Anyway, this is 10 shots at 25 yds with one flyer. But I'm no marksman by any stretch of the imagination! I had my CIL/Anschutz 310 out at the same time I was trying out the Brno and also took along my Toz-78, and also my son's Marlin 925. It's too soon for me to tell whether the CIL or Brno is more accurate because I need to go back out and try out more brands of ammo, set up a better rest, and extend the range to 50 yards but they do seem very close to each other so far. The Marlin,Brno and the 310 all seem to be very accurate guns and most of the time I can usually touch the bullet holes with either of them (but at only 25 yards), but the Marlin has a very heavy trigger pull and it's very tricky pulling the trigger without throwing off the shot. The Toz has been performing very poorly for me and the groups so far are only about 4 inches at 25 yards!!! Maybe it's really ammo particular or I need to work at doing some sanding and better floating the barrel on it or something. I still have yet to try out the CIL/Anschutz 180 and 190, Brno #4 and #5, and the Winchester 69a I bought this winter. All this will take more several days and several bricks of ammo!

well I received the Model 2 today...to say it's near mint is an understatement.....and , it has the trigger like the Model 4......built 1972...reminds me alot of the Model 1 that I sold over 10 years ago.....never stopped missing it.

I'll let you know how it shoots....

here are some pics of the Model 2 that I got on CGN...it's a beauty...and it shoots little ragged holes at 25 meters...next time out I'll try 50 meters...have a Burris 4-12X Mini Compact coming for it....:D

That's sure a nice gun. Tell me more about the scope you're getting. Is it a Burris 4-12x32 Compact Rimfire/Airgun Scope? I had to settle for a smaller Tasco 1" .22 Riflescope 3-9 x 32mm on my #5 because I didn't want to knock off the rear sight and nothing else I tried would work on the medium 16mm mounts I got! The dovetails seem to be in a less then ideal location for bigger scopes to fit like a 4-12x40mm AO Bushnell Banner, Tasco 2.5-10x 42 A/O, or a Bushnell Banner 3.5-10 X 36mm

the Burris 4-12X is the Compact/rimfire/Airgun. # 200390, has an AO and is 11.3" long....the scope shown on the rifle is 11.5" long,..so if the eye relief isn't too much different it should fit OK with the rings I have....I'm hoping...I really don't want to remove the rear sight...
