Brno Model 5

Greg I don't know about most Kids wanting scopes, but my 12 year old nephew(shooting buddy) prefers open sights for most informal and hunting situations!
He even has the foresights to ask me to find him a lower powered scope for his deer rifle so he can see more area around the deer, one smart kid! But he sure he will use the irons instead anyway!
Now about BRNO #5's the last known serial# is mine in 1978, for the records we are keeping of all known model of BRNO rimfires, so if anyone has a 1978 or later gun, please PM me with date code and serial #, thanks!
I sure wish I was your son, a BRNO on your 16th birthday, all I got was an alarm clock, but it is still with me 23 years later, I guess Dad was practical/LOL, cheers Dale Z!
Hi Dale,

I was reading this forum and seen your message. I just purchased a 1978 production Brno Model 5 with a serial number 36569. Beautiful gun purchased in Red Deer, AB.

Does your Brno #5 have the scope mounts with original 16mm or the later machined 11mm?
I'll pass on the serial number to the fellow in New Zealand who been tracking the rimfires, hoping to one day write a book on them and accessories.

I’ve owned all models and have has a love affair for well over 50 years. They were always better built and more accurate than their price suggests. The best #5 I have seen was a factory engraved in mint shape. Not for sale. šŸ™. Not sure if special order or salesman sample. Only Brno I’ve seen like it.

Sorry for the slow response, just seeing that you responded now Zywina. My Brno Model 5 has an 11mm dovetail and very close to mint condition. It must have barely been used. Is it possible to add pictures here into the forum?

See below messages.

I've owned a dozen or so .22 rimfire including top of the line models like the Anschutz Match 54 actions, Beligium Brownings, etc. I have a Brno Model 5 that will be with me to the end. Wonderful rifles. You did well.

I have owned a #4 since early 90's. Beautiful rifle in my opinion. Very accurate. Mine has a parkerized type finish which led me to believe it may have been a military contract? My brother also has one and his is blued. Mine has a #56 on it and I assumed this was the year of manufacture.
Old world European quality!!

Thanks! I've only had it for a month but I already know I'll never sell it.

My Brno is as best I can determine an early #5.
Serial 49###. It has a model 2 receiver and as marked a Mod 1 barrel with model 2 rear sight.
The proof marks are 57.
Very nice rifle and a good shooter.
