Brno Model 5s

I have a 58 model, I think it was someone's truck gun, I cleaned it up and I couldn't say what it's favorite ammo is, it is the least picky 22 I have ever seen. It even shoots Blazers remarkably well.

I agree with 10mark22 100%, I have 15 or 16 Brno 22's in my safe, and in general, they are the least picky 22lr's I own. I have several other brands that shoot well, some even better than the Brnos, but with their preferred ammo. I would like to know what the recipe was that Brno used (or maybe it's just my imagination?), that gave (most of them) superb accuracy and the ability to shoot most ammos well? I know most of the Brnos I own have relatively tight chambers. It would be an interesting experiment to take chamber casts of a few of the old Brnos and see what the dimensions are.

I recall hearing that the barrels were hammer forged, that in itself might be enough to make them accurate. But the chamber isn't short by bolt action standards, I don't recall an ammo being hard to close the bolt on. Just crazy accurate.

This past summer I was using two of my model 1's, shooting Eley standard velocity hollow pts. and both rifles were engraving the bullet when chambered.
