My new(to me) gun. Wondering if anyone knows anything about this gun because I'm having a lot of trouble finding things out about it online. Would like to know what year it was made, it's history, and anything else you may know about it. Also feel free to tell me what you think about the gun, it's scratched up, has what looks like burn marks on it and the stock had split and was repaired but I guess all that just adds more character :p.

Looks similar to my Brno 21H in 7x57 .
The H is the half stock and yours is the full stock so should say 21 FS possibly??
Mine has set trigger (2) and has been nice while at the range...not having carried it all day yet.
Rings will or shall I say can be a challenge, but Burris makes some as does Lynx iirc they where/are an Aussie company.
Does it have a wing safety?
Another little thing to watch for is the magazine follower ...when you fire the last round the bolt will not close until you depress the follower down allowing to slide the bolt forward and home.
Ahh yes and dropping the floor plate esquires some skill as does closing it that or my fat fingers are well...give it a try and you will see what I mean.
Pop the trigger lock and lets see them the trigger group.

Forgot I had my trigger lock on in the image, my apologies. It is a double trigger thing though. My gun knowledge as a whole is quite poor so if you could go into farther detail about the rings since I'm not sure i understand. It does have the wing safety and i have noticed the magazine follower when i fired it. I can't find a gun brush in 7x57 so am wondering what size you could use or if you do have one in 7x57 where you got it. I was wondering about if you had a scope mounted on yours and feel the rings you mentioned have something to do with that so please go indepth on what that situation is with mounting a scope on it. Thanks a ton for replying, you're the first person who seems to know a good bit about it so thanks again for that.

close to the front ring.
Mine has 49 in small numbers which would indicate nee 1949.

No trouble at all from it, I was just wanting to learn more about it. I found the stamp you talked about and mine is a '49 as well it seems.

Hey !!! You hair lipped trout just you never mind about this old gal .
I was first to the party on this one Sir !!! ;)
7mm bore brush or a .284 Caliber will work in a pinch;)
The Gun has dovetail machined into top of receiver for those more than ordinary expensive rings for a scope.
Then you will have to find a scope that will clear the butter knife handle bolt ...Leupold makes an ultralight that works well on those guns.
There is a member or two on here who shoot these guns and know more than me..the guy I'm telling to take a number is knowledgeable too .
I'm just pulling his chain this evening is all.
There is a gentlemen in Saskatchewan who goes by windwalker iirc who has a fair bit of experience with this model of gun... he may be along shortly too.
Back to work in the morning and will see what I can find out about those rings I speak of (make and model number should you be interested in a scope for her)

ps, she shoots S&B 174 grn ammo nicely and is available through Shane at Reliable Gun in Vancouver...about $32.00 per 20.

Looks very nice, How tall would you say you need the scope with the rings in order for the bolt to not touch and it to load easily?
 
The bolt handle on mine was cut and welded back on to take the 90* bend out of it.
Not sure if the height on this set up would work on a factory stock bolt.
Leupold makes for nice tight occular lens bells compared to other manufacturers.

If you can find these adapters, then the cost of trying different rings wouldn't
hurt so much.
 
On the "cocking piece". I have had a few, none presently. For myself, they need the bolt handle replaced (if you are going to use a scope), the double trigger gone and the safety replaced as well. All that being said, they are a really nice action. Just for myself they would end up chopped up and made into a full custom. Not that there is anything wrong with that, just out of my league financially!
 
They are nice rifles, mine is an H in 8mm, it is my go to gun, coyotes to elk. I'd like to get it an F in 8mm as a companion.

I'm planning on using mine as it is, I don't want to be chopping up an old gun like that, the scope set up may be an issue but I don't see the problem with the double trigger or the safety.

Can you elaborate? I don't see what the problem with the safety is, I get the safety won't go on if the firing pin is not back but if the firing pin is not back it can't fire(right?). Unless there is actually a serious safety risk with it I'm not butchering a 66 year old rifle.
 
Just a personal preference on my part. I like a bigger tab for my thumb and like them to lock the bolt down. I am actually more used to them on the other side. (yes, I do like Winchesters)
